75% Merlot & 25% Cabernet Franc from the western edge of the Pomerol plateau outside of Libourne. Flashing a deep ruby robe, the nose is redolent of tobacco, forest floor, cassis, blackberry and black plum with allspice and clove. Structured yet supple with velvety tannins, this dances lightly on its feet with a surprising freshness for such a ripe vintage. An all-around class act, this shows why aged Pomerol is one of the great wines of Bordeaux.

At tasting, the Chateau Marquis de Terme 2016 reveals a fruity nose with aromas of black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry). The tannins combine elegance, freshness and softness, resulting in a delicate and fine wine on the palate.

The Château Marquis d'Alesme 2016 is a red Bordeaux wine, noted for its deep garnet-purple color and rich, concentrated flavors. The 2016 Le Clarence de Haut-Brion is another second wine that tastes more like a grand vin. Made from 51.3% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it too is deeply colored and has a classic Haut Brion bouquet of minerals, crushed rocks, cassis, graphite, and violet. With medium to full-bodied richness, good concentration, building tannins, and impeccable balance, it’s more supple and sexy that it’s big brother yet still has the balance, structure, and depth to keep for two decades. It’s a stunning wine in its own right.

This has the typical structure of a Saint-Estèphe, fleshed out with ripe black fruits. There is fine juicy acidity and rich tannins. An impressive opulence gives this wine good potential.
