Domaine l'Enclos' 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudsier demonstrates both elegance and power: apple, pear, quince, orange and orange zest, notes of vanilla, bread crust and coffee with milk. Everything is dominated by a scent of sea air, dried oyster shell and seaweed. A great opening on the tongue, lots of light and juicy fruit combine with a fine acidity which is wonderfully integrated into the fondant of the fruit. A high-class Chablis.

Located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the Dufuoleur family has been steeped in Burgundian winemaking and culture for more than 400 years. Their property of 30ha runs from the village of Fixin in the north to Santenay in the south. Whilst mostly Pinot Noir is planted, this very small vineyard of Chardonnay where only 1100 bottles are made. Wines are aged in French oak barrels, a third of which are new. The finished wine has an expressive nose of lemon chiffon, honey and fine herbaceous nuances. As the wine ages, it will develop a toasty, nutty aroma and flavour.

Chablis 1er Montmains is a 1er Cru from the left bank. The name of this climate evokes "the middle mountain", that which is at an intermediate altitude between two higher coasts. The orientation is south-east, the slopes can reach 20%.
The soils are fairly shallow and the Kimmeridgian limestone does not take long to appear. The soils are stony and well draining.
In this open and airy valley, our 80-year-old Old Vines give all their expressions.

Tasting Notes
Wines from Puligny-Montrachet are typified by aromas and flavors of green apple and lemon and tend to be tauter and firmer on the palate compared to wines from neighboring villages. Bright yellow-gold with golden highlights, this wine boasts strong aromatic intensity. In 1720, Maison Champy became the oldest wine company in Burgundy. By the arly 1900's, Champy has established itself as a premier wine company and had acquired more land in the Beaune, specifically in Savigny and Clos Vougeot. Pale yellow color with golden reflections. With a good intensity, the rich bouquet opens on ripe fruits (peach, apricot), on floral notes, and on notes of bread and freshly baked croissants. An elegant nose on a subtly woody base. On the palate, a good richness and smoothness with a long finish, opulent and round.

Tangs of struck flint and lime zest introduce this richly concentrated yet zesty Chardonnay sourced from vineyards adjacent to the Grand Cru of Le Montrachet. Flavors of lemon and tangerine are opulent and piercing, softened by hints of vanilla, cream and smoked wood. Moderately full bodied but bold in presence, the wine should improve through 2035.

Château des Quarts was created in 2012 through a joint partnership between two old friends, Dominique Lafon and Olivier Merlin.

For over a decade, Olivier had tasked himself with sourcing and making wine from the best sites within Pouilly-Fuissé and bottling them under his own label. After buying grapes from Clos des Quarts for several vintages, he was first approached with the news that it was for sale. Having been already convinced of the terroir's integrity he jumped on the opportunity.

The vineyard is located in Chaintré, the southernmost village of Pouilly-Fuissé. At just over 2 hectares, the oldest vines are almost a century old and are planted on clay-limestone soils.

Mineral yet textured. Solid buttery fruit with a white grapefruit touch note and faint mineral note. Lovely, classically-styled Meursault that shows a very fine balance between freshness and body. An east facing clay-limestone vineyard just below Genevrières.

Intense bouquet of fruit and flowers combined with a delicate mineral hint. Rich and subtil wine with good crisp, which makes it very balanced. Good ageing potential.

Francois Mikulski was born to a Burgundian mother and a Polish father. He spent many summers in Burgundy falling in love with the vineyards and the lifestyle. In 1992 he inherited his first vineyard in Meursault and since then has been pursuing his passion for producing authentic, pure, and elegant wines that are non pretentious. He uses only natural yeasts and 20-30% new oak to ensure he lets the purity of the Chardonnay shine through. Jasmine, honey, white peach, poached pear and citrus, makes this wine with a creamy, mouth coating palate that is truly unforgettable.

Duchesse de Magenta Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Garenne 2018 is a white wine from the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy, France. Palate: Juicy, playful on the palate, its fine acidity, pronounced fruitiness and fine tannin make you think of grapefruit and lemon peel. A truly great Burgundy that still seems a little shy on the palate, a real long-distance runner with a chalky orientation. The patient connoisseur will be rewarded if he puts a few bottles aside, because the fineness will clearly catapult forward with further maturity. The impatient will best forget it opened for a few days in the fridge before drinking it with classics of French cuisine.

Château de Montfrin has been in Jean-René de Fleurieu’s family since 1925 when his grandfather purchased the château and the vineyards. Jean-René took over in 2004 and today is supported by his daughter Aurore and Estate Manager Benjamin Beguin in the operation of the winery and its 100 hectares of organically farmed vineyards. In addition to vineyards, the estate also has olive groves. Looking after the land is a love affair for Jean-René and Benjamin. This is where they grew up, established roots and feel at home. The vineyards are spread out and are located in four different appellations: Pont du Gard, Costières de Nîmes, Côtes du Rhône, and Côtes du Rhône Villages. The vines grow in hallowed farmland made up of contrasting terrain, from the vast silty soils of the plains along the majestic Rhône to the sunny hillside of its banks and the stony plateaus of its now abandoned riverbeds.

This wine is a harmonious blend of perfectly ripened Grenache Blanc and Rousanne grapes grown on the pebbly terrain that radiates the warmth that builds up during the day. Well integrated acidity and slight undertones of oak create a very versatile and easy to enjoy wine for a multitude of occasions.

Chassagne-Montrachet is located south of Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune and is one of Burgundy's greatest white wine appellations. It produces all appellations from the village to Grand Cru. The word Chassagne comes from either the Latin 'cassanea’, which means an oak wood, or 'cassanus’, which means oak. Until the late 19th century, the main settlement of this commune was known as Chassagne-le-Haut. However, in 1879, in common with other villages in the Côte d'Or, the village was allowed to change its name, replacing le Haut with the name of their most famous Grand Cru Montrachet. The village appellation covers just over half of Chassagne-Montrachet.

This was aged in oak barrels for 10 months, and then drawn off and tightened in tanks for 2 months prior to bottling. This shares the neighbouring appellation's grandeur, with an expansive palate of crystalline lemon, perfumed white florals, Rainier cherry, ripe pear, and toast, bedded with a riveting buzz of stony minerality which drives through the lingering finish. Lovely balance of generosity and cut, this is drinking smartly now, and with time ahead. Great find.
