A blend of 44.7% Merlot and 55.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2020 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion has an alcohol of 14.3%. It rolls effortlessly out of the glass with seducing notes of warm black plums, black cherry compote and blackberry pie, plus suggestions of lavender, crushed rocks and underbrush with a hint of sassafras. The medium bodied palate is delicately played and refreshing, offering lots of soft spoken black fruit and earthy layers with a soft texture and seamless acidity, finishing with a spicy kick.

Francois Mikulski was born to a Burgundian mother and a Polish father. He spent many summers in Burgundy falling in love with the vineyards and the lifestyle. This certainly and easy going Pinot Noir that expresses notes of blueberries, cherris, plums with spice notes. Hints of mint with those red fruit notes on the palate offers charm and adds to the soft tannins. These are cult wines that you want to get your hands on.

The personal secretary of King Louis XIV, Phelippeau de Pontchartrain, acquired these hunting estates located near the forests of the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud and with excellent land for vineyards.
The domain recently celebrated its 350th anniversary and is reinforced with modern facilities that allow them to diversify the methods of winemaking and enhance this magnificent terroir.

The grapes are placed in temperature-controlled vats for a cold maceration of two to four days, then a controlled fermentation. The intensity of the ventilation and the choice of temperatures are made according to the vintage to seek harmony, fruit and elegance while having texture and volume upon tasting.

Gerard Raphet, along with his daughter Marion, farms 12 ha of land with vineyards in Morey St. Denis, Vougeot, and Gevry-Chambertin, and most of the plots have a vine age of 60-100 years. This important, and respected appellation in Burgundy is known for delivering deeply perfumed wines with notes of plums, berries, earth and spice. The finish is long with musky perfume and spice.

Bright ruby colour, open on the nose with powerful aromas of red fruit enhanced by toasted nuances. Well-structured and firm on the palate, it possesses stylish tannins. Its natural freshness gives a nice length to the wine.

The emotion of Les Corvées reveals itself in the beauty of desire and the anticipation of the absolute. Stretching south beyond Gevrey-Chambertin, Les Corvées is situated in an area that is relatively flat with rich soils. This gives a taste of the finesse of the premiers crus which border its southern extremity. A deep garnet appearance with mauve highlights, producing a dark veneer in the glass. Purple tones with ruby glints, reminiscent of glorious years.

Not many Domaines can boast that. History of the Domaine dates to 1868. Owned now by the Labruyère Family, supported by Prieur Family's heirs, they passionately promote and defend the great terroirs of Burgundy worldwide. The Beaune Greves Premier Cru sits on 1.17ha overlooking the city of Beaune. This 100% pinot noir offers notes of fresh red berries, evolving into cherry pit and spicy vanilla notes. Elegant, fresh, and fruity, the wine has balanced tannins and acidity with a smooth finish.

A legend throughout the entire Cote-d'Or, Henri de Villamont can be easily spotted from miles around due to its famous Guettes Tower and beautiful manor house, which has drawn wine lovers on a Burgundy pilgrimage for many decades. Located in the heart of one of the region's prettiest villages, Savigny les Beaune, Henri de Villamont is a magical place, surrounded by high walls and scores of Premier Cru vineyards. The property is owned by a major Swiss family company who have been in the wine business for over 20 years. A shy nose that very slowly releases precise red berries. Eventually this rounds in the mouth, has a hint of salt too. This has decently understated concentration and real grand cru complexity here. Understated, sometimes subtle, but excellent.

Seguin-Manuel has undergone a major rejuvenation since its acquisition by Thibaut Marion in 2004, 180 years after its foundation in 1824. Coming from a ten-generation family of winegrowers, Chanson Père & Fils, Thibaut started his career -- and honed his skills for seven years -- at the family winery in Beaune. Today, he puts his experience, passion and energy at the service of the great wines of Burgundy. The range has thus been considerably extended through the acquisition of new vineyards et new grape suppliers. Every effort has been made at Seguin-Manuel to let the wines express their natural balance and each cuvée is crafted with the intention of reflecting its terroir with panache. Seguin-Manuel's vineyards are grown organically with no use of chemicals, certified since 2015. "Les Cazetiers" typically shows a dark purple colour. The bouquet is precise, stylish and intense. Black fruit aromas are mingled with a hint of toasted and spicy notes. It is both powerful and precise with fine and elegant tannins. Very long aftertaste. To be paired with a leg of lamb, braised ham or a matured cheese. The aging potential of this wine indicates its best after 7 to 10 years, and more than 15 years for the great vintages.

In the words of the winemaker - "Burgundy combines the ideal conditions for cultivation of pinot noir. In Burgundy, this grape reflects the tiniest variations of terroir on which it is planted, and thus expresses itself as nowhere else. On the nose in its first years, this pinot noir offers a diversity of aromas with a range of fresh red fruits such as blackcurrant or cherry. On the palate, it is rather round, with assertive but delicate tannins."

The La Tour Carnet from Haut-Medoc is a blend of 68% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Petit Verdot to add that backbone structure. Dark red cherries, plums, smoke, leather, and cedar abound with silky tannins and fresh acidity. Although this is ready to drink now, give it ample time in a decanter for optimal drinking experience!

Chateau Leoville-Barton (Saint Julien)- this wine is massive and powerful with the bulk of this coming from 83% Cabernet Sauvignon with 15% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc providing the lift. It has a solid core of cassis, blueberry compote, sweet oak and plum flavours wrapped with licorice and pencil lead. Muscular, yet lean, drink from 2025-2035. 

Like many Chateaux, Palmer was always owned by families. The Pereire brothers purchased the property in 1853 working hard to bring the estate up to first growth status in time for the famous 1855 Classification. It was ranked a Third Growth, although widely recognized as among some of the greatest wines of Bordeaux. Now owned by several families of Bordeaux, English and Dutch heritage since 1938, these families have always given priority to quality and authenticity. A typical blend of almost equal parts Cabernet and Merlot, this 2019 is a red blend of 53% cabernet sauvignon, 43% merlot and 4% petit verdot, this elegant Margaux is beautifully defined with pencil lead infused black fruit of cassis and blackberry, spice, crushed rock and pressed flowers. Juicy, yet creamy on the palate, it offers substantial tannins and a beautiful long finish. Drink from 2025-2049

Winemaker Notes

A wine of good density ruby red, with brown, mahogany, biscuit hints. The rim is fairly thick and the legs are fine, clear, abundant and regular. At once expressive, forthright and complex. There are notes of all families of fragrance: fruit, flowers, and spices. The attack is forthright, round and suave, soothing even. The intense aromas initially recall the complexity of the nose. There is leather and lightly charred wood, and roasted notes. The beauty of the wine is revealed by its elegance rather than its full-flavor. The wine has an attractive aromatic range with a finish of remarkable elegance.

A rich, balanced, long-lasting and incredibly harmonious red wine, dark in colour with a touch of purple in the reflections. Its powerful and complex bouquet contains notes of dark berries, with hints of cherry alongside peppery and liquorice spices. On the palate it is aromatic, with velvety tannins and soft ripe fruit, and a long finish.

It is arrayed in an intense, bright garnet red hue flecked with purple. The charming and pleasant nose offers a lovely bouquet of red fruit and liquorice. The equally expressive palate combines aromatic freshness and fruity intensity, interpinned with a velvety texture. A succulent, elegant wine, smooth and well-balanced.

Medium-bodied and fresh with a plummy quality, this wine is focused on red fruits and sweet-smelling earth. Bright and a little strict, give this a few years to come around and soften.

The second label of First growth Chateau Latour is just as impressive as its big brother, and at 12 years old, if there is more than one bottle in the cellar, time to see how it's evolving. Not an epic vintage, but well made, nonetheless. The tannins are fresh, there is good weight in the mouth and the typical flavours of cassis, cedar and graphite are here in this iconic Pauillac.

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: Medium to deep garnet colored, the nose slowly, measuredly emerges with notions of preserved Morello cherries, baked blackcurrants and blackberry compote, giving way to nuances of pencil shavings, unsmoked cigars, Chinese five spice and sandalwood plus ever so subtle hints of cardamom and eucalyptus. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-coating black and red fruit preserves with a firm, grainy-textured frame and fantastic freshness, finishing with a veritable firework display of lingering spices and minerals. This is a more restrained, relatively elegant vintage of Latour that may not have that "iron fist in a velvet glove" power of the greatest vintages but nonetheless struts its superior terroir and behind-the-scenes savoir faire with impressive panache. It is drinking nicely now with suitably rounded-off, approachable tannins, and the tertiary characters are just beginning to bring some more cerebral elements into the compote of temptingly primary black fruits. The history of Chateau Duhart-Milon is not as well known as it should be. In the 18th century the wines of Milon became the "second" wine for Chateau Lafite. The 1855 classification awarded Duhart-Milon the only 4th growth in Pauillac, recognizing it for the quality of its soil. Sometime between 1830-1840 35 acres was left to the Casteja family who subsequently possessed a 99 acre vinyard name Duhart-Milon. Over the years the property changed hands many times and suffered a decline in the quality of the wines. The property was acquired in 1962 by the Rothschild family who totally overhauled the vineyards and brought back the quality of the wine as a 4th growth. This 2011 is a red blend from Pauillac in Bordeaux that is composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, this is a medium bodied wine with finesse and purity showing ripe berries, tobacco, spice and leather with an excellent freshness on the palate. This wine is ready to drink now, and should age for a few more years yet.
