Franz Haas Lagrein DOC is a red wine produced in the Valle Isarco subregion of Alto Adige, Italy, by the Franz Haas winery. Made in only the best vintages, the grapes for the Trefiano Carmignano Riserva come from five hectares of vineyards surrounding the historic Villa di Trefiano located in the Carmignano DOCG. The 2016 Barbaresco Manzola is a brilliant wine. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries, mint, chalk and white pepper all pulse through the 2016. A Barbaresco of energy and tension, the 2016 is a bit nervous in feel, and yet it also has terrific depth, not to mention exceptional balance. The 2016 is one of the finest Manzolas I can remember tasting. In this range, the Manzola is distinguished by its saline minerality and drive.

This forward Barbera has aromas of black plum and macerated cherries punctuated by intense floral and gamy notes. The palate is concentrated with a deep core of black hue fruits with fresh herbs, violets finishing with bright acidity, fine tannins and a hint of sea salt.

Campania's favourite winemaker, Mastroberardino's entry level white is a blend of four native varieties: Coda di Volpe, Greco, Fiano and Falanghina. The nose recalls fresh flowers, pineapple, peach and citrus fruits, while on the palate, good freshness with balanced acidity and notes of citrus and exotic fruit.

Arnaldo Rivera was a local primary school teacher, mayor of his village for 36 years, and founder in 1958 of the Terre del Barolo winery, which still today is the only direct cooperative wine cellar in the entire supply chain in the Barolo production area. Verduno might be one of the 12 communes allowed to put ‘Barolo’ on the label, yet besides the great grape Nebbiolo, they are famous for the native Pelaverga grape, which you can find most locals drinking in caffes.

Rustic and slightly opaque on the nose, it is expertly worked to give complexity in addition to the floral matrix. Hints of wet geraniums, hot stone and ginseng root set the main scene. Medium body, soft little extracted tannins and vibrant acidity from the midpalate onward. Drink now.

The Aldegheri family has been in operation since 1956. Love for nature and extreme attention to the vineyards whilst keeping to traditions of the regions, yet not afraid to use modern technology, the family strives to improve day after day. Now in the 2 nd generation, they are proving to be around for a very long time to come. The Pietramara follows all the same principles of Amarone, yet at a fraction of the price.

This wine presents marked aromas of cherry and marasca cherry, which stand out in its complex bouquet, creating a pleasurable first impact. This is followed by the perfect harmony of its full, robust body. While the color, bouquet, and intensity of flavor suggest a wine suitable for aging, its fruitiness, roundness, and overall harmony make it highly enjoyable for immediate drinking as well.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Review - Rated 96:

The 2020 Masseto now sees new DNA with a touch of Cabernet Franc added to this celebrated Merlot-based icon wine. This is a vintage of enormous richness and density, and everything about the wine is taken up a notch or two (including the bottle glass weight and the 15% alcohol content). But Axel Heinz and his team are well prepared for the hot vintages like 2020, and changes to farming and canopy management ensure even ripening. This wine is always hard to analyze in its youth. It needs many more years to soften and flesh out. Give it time.

It's dark and vibrant on the palate, with perfect ripeness of tannins and an amazingly refreshing finish.
