Rivera Marese Bombino Bianco is a crisp, aromatic Italian white wine from Puglia made from the local Bombino Bianco grape. It is characterized by intense floral and fruit notes of lemon balm, apple, and white grapefruit, with a fresh, mineral finish and a hint of creaminess from lees aging. This dry wine is noted for its excellent drinkability and versatility, pairing well with seafood appetizers and fish dishes.

Masi Mezzanella Amandorlato Recioto is a complex, ruby-red Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG wine from a single vineyard in Italy, characterized by its unique bitter-sweet almond aftertaste and notes of prunes, dried fruits, cinnamon, and dark chocolate. Made using the appassimento technique of drying grapes, it is a velvety, full-bodied, sweet wine that balances richness with acidity, offering a multifaceted experience. The Luce Brunello di Montalcino 2019 is a highly-regarded Brunello, praised for its elegance, concentration, and aging potential. Canadian Robert Tome learned his craft of hospitality in Italy, studying with the Italian Sommelier Association. He opened his own import agency, which quickly became one of the largest agencies in Canada representing some iconic Italian wineries. In 2017, Robert decided to challenge himself to do more and give more with a new endeavor. He sold his shares and branched out on his own to launch Tomé Group of Brands, his own wine brand making wines from Washington State and Italy. This vegan-friendly Pinot Grigio is clean and crisp, layered with notes of apple, pear, almond, and white nectarine with a twinkle of acidity. This is a great match with seafood, pasta with cream sauce, oyster, asparagus and summer salads.

The red wine "Prugnolo" Valtellina Superiore from Cantina Rainoldi is named after the "Prunus Spinosa," a decorative shrub that grows near the vineyards and whose blue berries ripen in autumn, coinciding with the harvest period. Made from the noble Nebbiolo grape, "Prugnolo" is a structured and full-bodied wine, crafted from carefully selected grapes from the terraces of Valtellina Superiore. It undergoes a pre-fermentation cryo-maceration lasting about 60 hours, followed by controlled-temperature maceration with continuous pumpover. The wine then matures for approximately twelve months in small oak barrels previously used for Sfursat Fruttaio Ca' Rizzieri. Afterward, it is blended in stainless steel tanks and aged in bottle for at least 9 months before being released.

From the master himself, Mastroberardino, Campania's favourite winemaker, this might be considered "entry level", but with nothing lacking in flavour and quality. Made with a blend of aglianico and piedirosso, the aromas denote fruity sensations of plum, blackberry, raspberry, blackcurrant, strawberry and cherry with hints of cinnamon. On the palate it is medium bodied with rich notes of red fruits.

Another little gem from the oldest family winery in Italy. Since 1141, Ricasoli has been producing wines of great character and quality. Made from 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino, the wine is aged for 9 months in used tonneaux.

The nose begins with floral and fruity notes, gradually transitioning to umami with hints of balsamic vinegar and tar, blending with violets, roses, figs, and plums. The palate combines juiciness and earthiness, with gritty, almost sandy tannins enhancing the earthy profile.

One of the original producers that grows Trebbiano Abruzzese, one of the few quality grapes of the Trebbiano group. There is not much of this exported and even fewer bottles of the Montepulciano. Francesco Valentini and his son are the only humans allowed in the cellar as Francesco never wants to introduce foreign microbes or yeasts to interfere with the ageing of the wine. These are some of the most ageable white wines in the world and in fact, could be considered “unicorns” as they are hard to find here in Canada.  Truly collectible.

The Brunello Di Montalcino is fragrant with incense, rose petals, red raspberry, and blood orange. Elegant, with fine tannins, it is approachable already in its youthful stage. Its refreshing acidity and wonderful dusty earth minerality make it a very pleasing wine to drinking now or over the next 10 years.

Nose: Rich and aromatic with notes of dried fruits, vanilla, and honey.

Taste: Smooth and well-balanced, with flavors of caramel, toffee, and a hint of spice.

Palate: Full-bodied and creamy, with a lingering finish of oak and a touch of smoke.

Like traditional Amarone, the grapes are dried per regulations before pressing after January 1. Full bodied, structured and typical aromas and flavours of dried cherries, figs, balsamic, licorice, espresso and earthiness, Allegrini is one of the more famous families of the Valpolicella region. If you love Amarone, but find a full bottle too much, this 375ml, although pricey, is well worth the price of admission.

45% Corvina Veronese, 45% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta

The nose is striking with its floral hints of violet and rose accompanied by red fruits such as raspberries and sweet spices. In the mouth, the wine is balanced and elegant with an almost creamy texture supported by silky and well-integrated tannins. Spicy notes accompany the persistent finish.

This wine originates from vineyards with mostly clay soil. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested and then undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Afterward, it matures for one year in Chesnut barrels before spending another year in stainless steel tanks before being bottled. On the nose, the wine offers an intense and alluring aroma, featuring plum, black cherry, dried figs, walnut husks, and unpeeled almonds, complemented by subtle hints of dried flowers. In the mouth, the wine presents a dry and soft character with a pronounced freshness. The moderate acidity is balanced by firm and velvety tannins, creating a harmonious and enjoyable experience. This wine is made exclusively from 100% Gaglioppo grapes, showcasing the unique and distinctive qualities of this variety.

Deep garnet with purple tingers. Fortbright, broad lingering, blackberry, cherry, forest floor, white pepper, slightly herbaceous. Sturdy with lively tannins; wild and earthy; noticeable acidity.

The Bisci vineyards were purchased in 1972, of the 25ha, 18ha of which are planted to Verdicchio, Marche's signature grape variety. The winery was then built in 1980 and the company has been certified organic since 2016. The grapes for this wine also come from the Vegneto Foglia vineyard, then further bunches selected, but it's only produced in the best vintages. the resulting wine is concentrated and rich with full bodied aromas and flavours of yellow fruits, aniseed and almond. Ageable.

For over 50 years, the Bisci family has been making Verdicchio in the district of Matelica. Verdicchio, one of Italy's most ageable white grapes shows two expressions: rounder and richer in Jesi, but more austere, higher acidity and mineral in Matelica due higher elevation and mountain terroir. The single vineyard of Vegneto Foglia has 45 year old vines with a south facing exposure. The wine is complex with yellow fruits and chlorophyll notes. The palate is structured and textured, built for ageing.

Casa Raia has 4.5ha of vineyards, ranging from 44 years old to new. Certified organic, the phases of the moon are followed to the letter to create biodiversity. All harvesting is done by hand and clusters are inspected carefully before destemmed. The Bevilo is a blend of mostly Sangiovese with small percentages of Canaiolo, Cabernet Franc and Merlot all co-fermented. Beautifully balanced with red cherry, raspberry, and hints of earth and savoury balsamic, it's smooth tannins finish easy and long. A rare find.

Three generations of winemaking in the Valdobbiadene hills, they farm organically and sustainably. "Particella" refers to Parcel and allows the family to showcase fruit from different "rive", obtained from the steepest and most suitable vineyards with grapes from a single municipality, to enhance the characteristics and showcase the terroir. Elegant perlage with a creamy foam, yet high acidity and minerality. Ripe white peaches with mineral and floral notes. Fascinating!

La Palazzetta Visconti is located on the south-east side of Montalcino, farming 20 ha organically. Mild winters, hot summers and humid springs and autumns help to create bright coloured, fragrant wines with juicy acidity. This little Rosso is the perfect quaffer with notes of violet, cherry, and plum. The tannins are ripe and soft, leading into a long finish.

The Boscaini family of MASI fame rediscovered the rare Oseleta grape, grown in the area of Valpolicella as a perfect grape to blend with the other Amarone grapes. With its extra pip and high skin to juice ratio, it provides a tannic edge to the blend. Unique as a monovarietal, MASI is the only winery to have a 100% Oseleta. The Osar is deep red in colour, clean and complex with hints of blueberries, blackberries and
fresh-cut greenery. The extreme tannins are well balanced with the acidity and alcohol.

Intense purple colour, hints in the scent of red fruit and spices one of which, black pepper, stands out. In the mouth it is pleasant tasting, mineral, nervous with intense and characteristic tannins.

The Ricasoli Ceniprimo Chianti Classico is a red wine made from Sangiovese grapes grown in the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany, Italy. It has a deep ruby color and aromas of ripe red fruit, black cherry, and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a balanced acidity and tannins, and flavors of cherry, plum, and a touch of vanilla. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasant aftertaste of fruit and spice. This wine is perfect to pair with grilled meats, pasta dishes, and aged cheeses.
