This is a great Talbot, a real success for the château. Subtle and deft touches throughout, from the smoked turmeric notes that lace the black fruits to the finessed aromatics that accompany the body of the wine. Balance and freshness, and a saline edge to the finish that is extremely moreish. Three years with Jean-Michel Laporte as director, and he is doing great work.

It has since become one of Washington's most enduring and award-winning wineries. Along with their tasting room, they also have a tasting room in Woodinville, where one can taste many examples of Washington wine. As part of the Tramier Collection, three family wineries work together to achieve excellence in everything they do. This red wine is a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay, effectively a Passetoutgrains. An unbelievable quality here at an incredible price - aromas of red berries, spice and hints of earth and mushroom with a smooth mouthfeel.

Casa Raia was purchased in 2006 by Frenchman Pierre Jean Monnoyer who restored the old vineyards and began producing natural wines with three labels, the "supertuscan" Bevilo, a Sangiovese Rose and this Brunello di Montalcino. Made with 100% Sangiovese (as required by law) this ageable beauty is elegant with a nose of cherry, cinnamon, thyme and hints of pencil shavings and earth. Certainly one of the best "natural" wines out there.

Jeff Carrell makes wine in Languedoc, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Beaujolais. This Pinot hails from Languedoc and has a round, fresh mouth with cherry, strawberry and flint notes along with a spicy, wet stone with nuances of earth on the palate. Passopisciaro is a small area (the name of a town) on Mt.Etna's north face on the property of the late Andrea Franchetti. Soils from this active volcano provides resulting wine with a vein of minerality that speaks of the terroir of this prestigious region. The Passorosso is a blend of ancient grapes of Nerello Mascalese from different vineyards located at different altitudes on the northern side of Etna. Aromatic and fresh, this wine is a great introduction to the wines from Mt. Etna. Expect cherry, pomegranate, and floral overtones with nuances of earth, smoke, and herbs, along with that high acidity and prominent tannin structure that come with the grape variety.

The Chiappemacine is the lowest site (in altitude) which produces a rounder, more full-bodied style of Nerello Mascalese with aromas and flavours of crushed raspberries, wild strawberries, cinnamon, and star anise.

Although 2017 was not a vintage for the ages, excellent winemakers will still create beautiful wines from hand selected grapes. Jessica Pellegrini is a minimalist, using indigenous yeast and "hands-off" winemaking. Like the 2015, it is true to the Sangiovese variety with an expressive nose of cherry, fresh Italian herbs, and tomato leaf. Serve with tomato based pasta dishes like Bolognese or Lasagne.

In the commune of La Morra, Sergio Molino vinifies wine from only 2.5 ha of Nebbiolo vines. The Molino family vineyards, bottled under the Ernesto Molino label is an homage to Sergio's father. Like many micro-wineries, it's a "hands-off" approach, allowing the terroir to speak for itself. Cranberry, violet, hints of vanilla and even an iron note, put this one away for a while to let those austere tannins settle down. Best after 2027.

Saint Joseph in the Northern Rhone is only authorized for 100% Syrah. Black pepper, warm spice, black cherry, and iron minerality, it would be best to put this away and let the tannins settle down, or open for several hours before serving to open. Classic Rhone Valley Syrah.

Gulfi is a family-owned winery located in southern Sicily, with grand cru vineyards located in Pachino: 100% Nero d’Avola that grows in sandy soil close to the sea and has adapted to the hot climate. Here, the resulting wines are complex and elegant, and the benchmark for what these wines should taste like. Undoubtedly, one of the world’s greatest wine estates and producers of Nero d’Avola. Although one might think the wines taste the same, each single vineyard or ‘cru’ showcases the great terroir of Pachino and the subtleties of each area. 

Buffaleffj is a 3ha site with a unique soil mix of black clay, white limestone, and red sand. The wine has concentrated black cherry and blackberry notes, roasted eggplant, and spice. Even though the climate here is very hot, the wine maintains its acidity, yet with a velvety palate of blackberries and sour cherries, with mineral and herbal complexity that leads to a long and sumptuous finish.

The CASK 23 combines the signature perfume notes of FAY vineyard with the structure and dark fruit of S.L.V. Renato Ratti Barolo DOCG Marcenasco is a classic expression of the Nebbiolo grape grown in the Barolo subregion of Piedmont, Italy. The Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo is a full-bodied and elegant red wine produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Barolo subregion of Piedmont, Italy. The Robert Mondavi Napa Pinot Noir is a red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the Napa Valley region of California. Groffier Bourgogne Rouge is a red wine made by Robert Groffier, a highly respected winemaker in the Burgundy region of France. The Tuscany Verruzzo di Monteverro was born in vineyards located in the Grosseto municipality of Capalbio, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma.

It is produced with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes, harvested exclusively by hand between the first ten days of September and the first of October. The vinification takes place entirely "by fall", so as not to deplete and allow the highest expression in the glass. Subsequently the wine ages for 12 months in French oak barrels before being bottled.

It has a bright garnet red colour with purple nails. The nose opens with floral aromas of rose and lavender, enriched with fruity notes of plum and wild strawberries. On the palate it is structured, soft and with character, with hints of rose, strawberry and melon.

Ideal in combination with lasagna and first courses with lamb ragù, this red wine is perfect to accompany medium-aged cheeses.

Koyle's Cabernet Sauvignon has been on the scene since 2008. Sourced from Organic and Biodynamic vineyards in Los Lingues, and Colchagua Andes, the Koyle Royale Cabernet spends 25 days fermenting in stainless steel tanks and then 20 months in 225 Litre French Oak Barriques before bottling.

An organic expression of red Cahors that was matured in oak for up to 18 months it offers complex aromas of plums, cherries and spice. The dry, full and smooth palate is full of crunchy blueberry fruits, plums, cherries and spices and has a long satisfying finish. Pairing: grilled steaks, pasta with chorizo, lamb cutlets

A legend throughout the entire Cote-d'Or, Henri de Villamont can be easily spotted from miles around due to its famous Guettes Tower and beautiful manor house, which has drawn wine lovers on a Burgundy pilgrimage for many decades. Located in the heart of one of the region's prettiest villages, Savigny les Beaune, Henri de Villamont is a magical place, surrounded by high walls and scores of Premier Cru vineyards. The property is owned by a major Swiss family company who have been in the wine business for over 20 years. A shy nose that very slowly releases precise red berries. Eventually this rounds in the mouth, has a hint of salt too. This has decently understated concentration and real grand cru complexity here. Understated, sometimes subtle, but excellent.

Cantina Girlan is a cooperative winery located in the Alto Adige (South Tyrol/Südtirol) region, dating back to 1923 with 23 winegrowers.
