1x Château Margaux 1987/1999/2011

The Year of the Rabbit set from Château Margaux is limited to 100 sets, with each set independently numbered. The set comprises three bottles of Margaux from the Year of the Rabbit, namely 2011, 1999 and 1987. The wines have been stored in the Château Margaux cellars before release. The year 2011 was one of the most intense vintages that the winery has ever produced, and the wine is finally starting to show its full potential now; 1999 is one of the château’s favorite vintage for serving its guests; whereas the charming character of Margaux’s 1987 continues to emanate despite the difficult weather of the year.

Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with tightly knit, very subtle layers of minerals, floral notions and black and red berries, all framed by exquisitely ripe, silt-like tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing with epic length and depth.

The 2019 Château Haut-Brion Blanc is a more Sauvignon Blanc-dominated white that includes 36% Semillon. Its light gold hue is followed by a bright, racy Sauvignon nose of crushed limes, caramelized grapefruit, white flowers, and subtle minerality. It's incredibly pure, vibrant, and crystalline on the nose.

Once again, this wine is of first-growth quality, not only from an intellectual perspective, but in its hedonistic characteristics. More open-knit inaccessible than the 1996, Ducru's 1995 exhibits a saturated ruby/purple color folowed by knock-out nose of blueberry and black raspberry/cassis fruit intertwined with minerals, flowers, and subtle toasty new oak. Like its younger sibling, the wine possesses a sweet, rich mid-palate (from extract and ripeness, not sugar), layers of flavors good delineation and grip, but generally unobtrusive tannin and acidity. It is a classic, compelling example of Ducru Beaucaillou that should not be missed. Drink 2003-2025.

The wine has a rich colour with a garnet hue. The nose opens on blackberry notes mingled with refined hints of roasted coffee beans. With airing, noble and delicate notes of graphite, flint and cocoa round off this very attractive array of aromas.

Like Brane-Cantenac, Cantenac Brown is one of the big outperformers in Margaux this year. Is it better than the 2009? It is probably more a question of taste. The 2010 wine is characterised by ripe black fruits well woven together into a sweet oak framework. This is a classic ‘silky’ Margaux but with very present refreshing acidity. Good length. A really successful wine this and with Brane-Cantenac surely a must buy in this vintage.

The nose is delicate, mingling rhubarb and peach fragrances with delicious notes of white flowers. A fresh attack with notes of rhubarb gives way to an alluring, delicious and pure mouthfeel. Persistent and smooth, the finish reveals buttery and subtle aromas of Muscadelle.

Intense garnet colour. Aromas of fresh red fruit, like gooseberry, with hints of humus on a oaky background. Impressive concentration on the palate and a persistent texture. The finish is almost rustic, with firm tannins covered by the dry extract.

A blend of 71.4% Sauvignon Blanc and 28.6% Semillon, harvested 20th to 27th August and with an alcohol of 13.9%, the 2020 Haut Brion Blanc slowly unfurls to reveal notes of fresh pears, spiced apple slices, orange zest and lemongrass, plus touches of wet pebbles, dillseed and baking bread. The medium-bodied palate wears its lightly spicy apple and pear layers with grace and sophistication, supported by a racy backbone and subtly creamy texture, finishing long and mineral-laced. It will need time, but there's no doubting it's a knock-out.

Vivacious, bright, yellow citrus, lime, green apple, tangerine, and honeysuckle notes are there for the taking on the nose and palate. Crisp and energetic, with a long blast of zesty green apples, lemon peel and a hint of vanilla in the finish. This is among the best vintages of Cos d'Estournel Blanc ever produced. The wine blends 66% Sauvignon Blanc and 34% Semillon.

Blackberries and black currants define the nose, palate, and character of this classy Pauillac. The wine offers vibrancy, chewy textures, and nuances of mint, tobacco leaf, cedar, peppery spices, and tobacco wrapper. Classic, classy, refined, and with ample layers of sweet, lush, dark fruits with the tannins to age, this will drink well early, yet it will also evolve quite well.

"The 2016 Cheval Blanc is blended of 59.5% Merlot, 37.2% Cabernet Franc and 3.3% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose is incredibly youthful yet not so shy as some other 2016s at this stage, giving wonderfully intense scents of red currants, black cherries, wild blueberries and violets with nuances of star anise, cinnamon stick, rose hip tea, cigar box and wood smoke plus a touch of beef drippings. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has jaw-dropping elegance and depth, offering up layer upon layer of fragrant red and black fruits plus an extraordinary array of mineral sparks, supported by a rock-solid grainy texture, finishing with epic persistence and an edifying perfume. This is a very different style from the rich, opulently hedonic 2015, yet this wonderfully fragrant, beautifully poised and intellectually compelling 2016 is equally extraordinary."

Although the Upper Valdarno in Tuscany, where the winery is located is steeped in history, the young owners of Meca and Rocco are a brother and sister team with a combined age of just over 40 years old. Originally from Calabria where they learned the land, agriculture inthe toe of Italy's boot is difficult, so the family decide to pursue opportunities in Tuscany. They produce olive oil and and vegetables along with wine, all farmed organically. The Vertigine is made with 100% Canaiolo, typically a blending grape for Chianti and Chianti Classico wines. This comes from their youngest vineyard, hand picke and hand selected for a finished wine that is juicy, fresh, with lots of pretty red fruit of cherry and raspberry. A unique and lovely wine.

The vineyards of Michel Mallard located in Ladoix-Serrigny at the foot of Corton Hill in the Cotes de Beaune encompass all levels of vineyard quality: Villages, Premier Cru Grand Cru. Red wines of Corton will typically be more structured than wines of Vougeout, but perhaps not as powerful as Pommard. The Grand Cru of Le Rognet is a complex wine with notes of buleberry, blackberry and blackcurrant with nuances of licorice and pepper. Smooth and velvety tannins, this wine will age for a surprisingly long time.

On the nose, it has aromas of dark fruit, vanilla, and spice, while on the palate, it is full-bodied with flavors of black cherry, plum, and tobacco. The 2016 is a red wine blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. The wine has notes of black fruit and cocoa bean on the noes with a dense texture and elegant tannins. Made in only the best vintages, the grapes for the Trefiano Carmignano Riserva come from five hectares of vineyards surrounding the historic Villa di Trefiano located in the Carmignano DOCG. The Trefiano DOCG is made from a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo. The wine is aged in tonneaux for 16 months and a further year in a bottle. The Poggio Alle Gazze Toscana IGT Bianco is a showcase of Bolgheri’s best terroir and features mostly Sauvignon Blanc, but the final blend features different grape varieties every vintage. This wine has the addition of 11% Vermentino and 6% Viognier with the Sauvignon Blanc to show an array of both citrus and tropical fruit notes accompanied by floral notes and the quintessential fresh cut grass and asparagus aromas from the Sauvignon. Always refreshing with a delicate vanilla coming out on the palate and always showing the salty tang on the finish, giving this wine a true sense of place.

Michel Mallard'sLa Toppe au Vert extends over Corton hill's southeastern slope, the name referring to a "land of good exposure". This 100% pinot noirhas a deep ruby color and a complex bouquet of black cherry, raspberry, and earthy notes, with a touch of vanilla and spice. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with fine tannins and flavors of dark fruit, cherry, and hints of leather with fresh acidity and a long finish.

Le Grappin began in 2011 with a vision to seek out special sites in the over-looked, under-appreciated reaches of Burgundy and to seek out viticulteurs who tend their vines throughout the year with exceptional care and attention, to give the grapes the best opportunity to shine. This wine comes from the Beaune Premier Cru, made from 100% Pinot Noir from 40 year old vines. It has aromas of red berries, black cherry, and a hint of earth. On the palate, it is dry, medium-bodied, well-balanced, and elegant, with flavors of strawberry, raspberry, and a touch of spice with a long smooth finish.

This 50ha walled vineyard was created by the Monks of Citeaux and the soils in the areahas a large clay content, which accounts to the powerful, well-structured wines that can be rustic when young. This Grand Cru is on 1.28ha plot with 100% pinot noir. The grapes were handpicked and destemmed, then fermented in large oak vats. The wine was further aged for 20 months in French oak. The nose shows floral notes of rose petals, berries and spices. The tannins are fine and elegant with flavours of fresh fruit and spices of nutmeg and pepper.

Luxury is not typically associated with white wine, but this top-rated wine made from Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco is without a doubt, one of Italy’s most iconic. The beautiful texture and minerality of this wine will help it age for decades.

Chassagne-Montrachet is located south of Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune and is one of Burgundy's greatest white wine appellations. It produces all appellations from the village to Grand Cru. The word Chassagne comes from either the Latin 'cassanea’, which means an oak wood, or 'cassanus’, which means oak. Until the late 19th century, the main settlement of this commune was known as Chassagne-le-Haut. However, in 1879, in common with other villages in the Côte d'Or, the village was allowed to change its name, replacing le Haut with the name of their most famous Grand Cru Montrachet. The village appellation covers just over half of Chassagne-Montrachet.

Ageing in oak (30% new barrels) for approximately 15-18 mounths. Racking after the malolactic fermentation. Filtration is light or even nonexistent in order to preserve the aromas. Michel Mallard Le Rognet is a Grand Cru vineyard located in Ladoix-Serrigny on a small plot of 1.27 ha growing Pinot Noir vines that are between 45-55 years old. The vineyard is known for producing wines with complex flavors and aromas. The 2012 vintage of Michel Mallard Corton GC Le Rognet is generally considered to be a good year for Burgundy wines, with favorable weather conditions leading to a high-quality harvest. The history of the Rebourseau family goes back to 1782, humble farmers involved in viticulture which were passed on from one generation to the next.
