Without a doubt, Chateau Troplong Mondot has one of the most enviable and unique terroirs on the St. Emilion appellation on Bordeaux's Right Bank. Specifically located on the highest point of Saint-Emilion's famous limestone plateau, the 43ha estate has ideal soils and exposure. The resulting wines combine strength and elegance, complexity and precision. The 2019 Troplong Mondot is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon with attractive aromas of blackberry liqueur, blueberries, licorice, chocolate, and spice. With mouth-filling, juicy, and concentrated textures and flavours, this 2019 received a perfect score of 100 from Wine Enthusiast. Best from 2027-2040.

Chateau Haut-Bailly (Pessac-Leognan)- Chateau Haut-Bailly always delivers amazing wine, and this vintage is no exception. With aromatic and dense black fruits of cherry and cassis the 66% Cabernet Sauvignon and 34% Merlot is savory and delightful with earthy minerality and tobacco nuances. Be patient and you will be rewarded with a supremely delicious wine. You won't have to wait too long though as 2024 will mark 10 years in the bottle and the wine will start to show well. Daishichi Minowamon Junmai Daiginjo (Fukushima) is a premium, award-winning sake crafted using the traditional kimoto method and innovative "super-flat" rice polishing (50% ratio). It features a silky, creamy texture with elegant, refined notes of pear, mango, and melon, balanced by a rich umami backbone, offering a clean, smooth finish. 

The Dalmore 12 Year Old Sherry Cask Select is an elegant Highland Single Malt (43% ABV) that is matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before being finished in a special blend of aged Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It features notes of caramelised orange, ginger, sultanas, dark chocolate, and cinnamon.

The Cogno family has been making wine for four generations in Piedmont. Located in Novello (one of the 11 communes in which Barolo can be made), it is now being run by Elvio's daughter Nadia and her husband Valter Fissore, the current winemaker. Ravera is a powerful Nebbiolo that has enticing scents of rose, tobacco and perfumed berry, along with a palate of violet, raspberry compote, star anise and wild mint. he finish is complex with some spice notes. This wine will no doubt become better with age.

Domaine l'Enclos' 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudsier demonstrates both elegance and power: apple, pear, quince, orange and orange zest, notes of vanilla, bread crust and coffee with milk. Everything is dominated by a scent of sea air, dried oyster shell and seaweed. A great opening on the tongue, lots of light and juicy fruit combine with a fine acidity which is wonderfully integrated into the fondant of the fruit. A high-class Chablis.

Perlage: Fine, elegant and long-lasting mousse.

Colour: Pale lemon shade with golden and green highlights.

Bouquet: On the first nose, the wine reveals white flower aromas (honeysuckle, lilac), citrus notes, as well as fresh butter and cream. After airing, as it is getting warmer, this Champagne exhales another spectrum of aromas. The wine reveals spicy notes of ginger, and lemongrass, which were unsuspected until then.

Flavour: The beautiful quality of the acidity (present throughout the tasting) is especially remarkable. The frank vinosity of the wine (roundness and alcohol) gives an impression of strength and freshness. The wine appears both broad yet tight. These various sensations produce a pure, creamy and silky-textured wine. The finish is clean, slightly mineral and long. The last aroma is the grapefruit. The impression will be remembered as a harmonious, healthy and vibrant wine.

Inky dark purple core and hue. Pure and layered nose displaying ripe black currant, plum an aromatic herbal spiciness, tobacco leaf, fine wood and violet notes. Nice density and grip on the palate, ample dark fruit notes of cassis and cherry with good layers of sage, bay leaf, tobacco, liquorice and fine wood. Ample and structured with plenty of grainy tannin and a balancing fresh acidity, powerful yet in an elegant style with a very long and lingering finish.

Winner of a 2016 World Beer Cup Award, The 33 Acres of Euphoria is a Belgian Trippel that is bottle conditioned and sold in 750ml bottles. Coming in at 9.2% alcohol this is a big and intense beer, don’t tell the food and inspection agency though as the beer is mislabeled as being a “strong beer” as opposed to “Extra Strong Beer”. This beer pours from the (not easily opened) corked bottle a colour of hazy gold topped with one finger of head that settles without a trace. The aroma is sweet with a moderate Belgian yeast character along side notes of coriander, wheat, orange peel and a mellow booziness. Tasting the beer, low carbonation meets a creamy mouthfeel and sweetness. The sweetness masks the boozy character from the nose and subdues the coriander spice and orange peel notes. While perhaps a touch under carbonated this is a well crafted, traditional style Belgian Tripel.

The Château Marquis d'Alesme 2016 is a red Bordeaux wine, noted for its deep garnet-purple color and rich, concentrated flavors. It features notes of plum preserves, crème de cassis, and Black Forest cake, along with hints of potpourri, star anise, menthol, and tapenade. The palate is described as full, rich, firm, and grainy, with good freshness and a long, beautifully fragrant finish.

Koval was founded in Chicago in 2008 by Dr. Sonat Birnecker Hart and her husband, Dr. Robert Birnecker. The distillery was the first to open in the city since the mid-1800s. The word ‘koval’ means ‘smith’ or ‘blacksmith’ in many Eastern languages, but in Yiddish it also means ‘one who forges ahead’. Koval pays homage to Sonat’s grandfather who decided to “forge ahead” and move to the USA and start a new life from scratch. These products are all made organically and with a “grain to glass” philosophy, the distillery believes in only offering high-quality, well-made spirits using state-of-the-art technology.

The spicy kick that comes from this 100% rye is evident, yet it’s fresh and light with additional sweet nots of maple and candy corn. Smooth and balanced, this is likely one of the best rye whiskies you will ever taste.

A pale gold, light-bodied spirit with a brisk feel and hearty alcohol sting. The scent landed somewhere between smoky and menthol, bringing to mind menthol cigarettes. But the flavor was warm and honey-like.

Nose: Smoky, earthy, and herbal with notes of roasted agave, charred wood, and hints of citrus.

Taste: Rich and complex, with flavors of smoky mezcal, roasted agave, black pepper, and a touch of sweetness.

Palate: Full-bodied and velvety, with a lingering smoky finish and a subtle spiciness.

IWA 5 Assemblage 3, a sake by Richard Geoffroy, is known for its elegant and complex profile. Tasting notes reveal a vibrant aroma with floral and fruity elements, often including peach and apricot, alongside a hint of minerality. The palate is smooth and balanced, showcasing a delicate umami layer and a crisp, enduring finish. It also exhibits notes of white pepper, a signature characteristic of IWA.

The 2019 Alter Ego de Palmer is a vibrant, complex Margaux Bordeaux, known for its intense dark fruit (black cherry, cassis, plum), floral notes (violets), and hints of spice, tobacco, and chocolate, offering a rich, velvety texture with silky tannins, great freshness, and a balanced, energetic profile that delivers depth often associated with a Grand Vin, showcasing a forward, fruit-driven style that's enjoyable young but capable of aging. 

Matured in first-fill sherry and bourbon casks as well as refill casks. Marvelously rustic on the nose, with aromas of dried forest leaves and bramble, lemon, vanilla, peach, and light sherry soapiness. Honeyed texture and flavor on the palate, pleasantly bright with honey, lemon tea, apricot and peach tart, which continues to a smooth and honeyed finish with notes of cinnamon, marmalade, and sliced orange. Delicious, straightforward, and enjoyable.

The nosing passes find lightly toasted malt notes along with wood, sawdust, distant mint, and light caramel—not the most expressive Highland Park bouquet. The palate entry highlights the maltiness; at midpalate the taste becomes sweeter and honey like complementing the grain/malt base. Finishes assertively with the spirit underlining the honeyed sweetness.

Patrón Extra Añejo is an ultra-premium, 100% Weber Blue Agave tequila aged for at least 3 years in American, French, and Hungarian oak barrels. It features a bright, dark gold color with a rich, complex flavor profile, boasting notes of caramel, vanilla, dried fruits, and light agave. It is known for a smooth, velvety texture and is ideal for sipping or replacing whiskey in cocktails.

Clément Cuvée Homère is a premium, aged rhum agricole from Martinique, created as an homage to founder Homère Clément. A "Hors d'Age" blend, it combines rums aged for 6 to 15+ years in oak barrels, offering a complex, velvety profile of dark mahogany color with notes of toasted caramel, candied orange, dried fruits, and tobacco.

Penderyn Gold Range Portwood is a 46% ABV Welsh single malt whisky matured in bourbon barrels and finished in port casks, offering a rich, creamy, and fruity profile. It features prominent notes of dried fruits, dark chocolate, cranberries, toasty oak, and honey, often described as a, sweet and full-bodied, unpeated whisky.

A classic premium Scotch from a company who have been making great blended whisky for more than 100 years. Chivas Regal 18 Year Old is a smooth, rounded blend with a rich nutty aroma of toffee and candied citrus fruit.

Glen Garioch (prounouced 'Geery') is one of the oldest operating distilleries in Scotland, located in the quaint and historic town of Oldmeldrum, near Aberdeen, the most easterly located. They've been distilling since 1797, but 200 years in 1997, they re-opened after being closed for two years and started the Renaissance line. This 18-year-old is the 4th and final chapter in the lineup, understanding the character of an 18 year old. Matured for 18 years in both bourbon and sherry barrels, this light golden amber Scotch has a nose of honey, toffee, vanilla and some white chocolate. The taste is big and bold with oaky spices, pepper and cinnamon and a long, smooth finish.

If you typically prefer powerful, youthful Napa Cabernets but are curious about trying Burgundy wines, the 2018 Beaune 1er Cru is a great place to start your journey. This wine stays true to the qualities of the 2018 vintage, showcasing ripe, dark berry fruit flavors with notes of blackberry and dark raspberry that convey intensity and power through the finish. The cuvee benefits from a significant portion of old vines, which contribute to its concentration and structured quality on the palate. Louis Latour Chateau de Blagny 1er Cru is a high-quality white wine from the Burgundy region of France. Made entirely from Chardonnay grapes, this wine is fermented in oak barrels and aged for 8 to 10 months, resulting in a complex and nuanced flavor profile. The wine is characterized by its notes of citrus, apple, and pear, along with hints of vanilla and toasty oak. Beringer Private Reserve represents the pinnacle of the portfolio. Former Chief Winemakers Myron Nightingale and Ed Sbragia created the Private Reserve program in 1977 with the goal of crafting Napa's finest Cabernet Sauvignon.

Nose: Sweet prunes, dried fruits and raisins; sponge cake with hot chocolate sauce, a hint of coffee and honey aromas. Taste: Sweet liquorice, dark berries, jam and candied fruits, juicy apricots, caramel with roasted coffee beans with some sweet spice. Finish: Sweet sherry notes, dried fruits with a hint of oak.

A dense, opaque wine with classic Fonseca aromas and flavours, dense blackberry and blackcurrant, spice, coffee, cocoa, and prune. Thick, velvety tannins give the wine a voluptuous density on the palate.

This wine will develop for decades in the bottle. 98 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Sappy and sensational in flavour and fruit, moderate tannins around the edges on first taste, velvety texture and a long finish. The combination of great fruit and fine structure makes this a great Fonseca.

Not just Barolo, but single vineyard Barolo which makes these wines even more special. This is a well-balanced wine that showcases the elegance and power of the Barolo region. It can be enjoyed now or aged for several years to come.

Saint Joseph in the Northern Rhone is only authorized for 100% Syrah. Black pepper, warm spice, black cherry, and iron minerality, it would be best to put this away and let the tannins settle down, or open for several hours before serving to open. Classic Rhone Valley Syrah.
