The family owns 18 hectares between La Morra, Serralunga d'Alba, Monforte d'Alba, including 4 Barolo Cru's: R56 (Brandini), Annunziata, Meriame, Cerretta. Annunziata is a Cru with a 6200 bottle production. The wine is elegant, yet with great concentration. Notes of red fruits, roses and sweet tobacco on the nose, with a silky, refined tannic finish.

With only 5500 bottles produced per year, the nose is intense with furity notes of black cherry, dried roses, violets and distinct notes of tar. The palate is full-bodied and intense with persisten tannis that are sweet and velvety.

The 2020 Masseto now sees new DNA with a touch of Cabernet Franc added to this celebrated Merlot-based icon wine. This is a vintage of enormous richness and density, and everything about the wine is taken up a notch or two (including the bottle glass weight and the 15% alcohol content). But Axel Heinz and his team are well prepared for the hot vintages like 2020, and changes to farming and canopy management ensure even ripening. This wine is always hard to analyze in its youth. It needs many more years to soften and flesh out. Give it time.

It's dark and vibrant on the palate, with perfect ripeness of tannins and an amazingly refreshing finish.

From the Veneto region, international grape varieties thrive, especially Cabernet Franc. The Savian winery is a family owend winery in the Lison Pramaggiore region fo Veneto, in operation since 1925. They received their organic certification in 1993. The company owns seven brands, and the Quota 7 line is also biodynamic. This Cabernet Franc is full bodied with juicy black fruit, herbs and hints of earth. Super drinkable and will pair well with grilled meats, and the price point is undeniable!

It began with rather normal temperatures and precipitation, promoting budbreak that was in line with the historical average of the region. Spring, and in particular the month of May, was characterized by frequent rainfall and temperatures slightly below average. The summer months were generally hot and dry, without noticeable spikes, providing optimal ripening conditions for the Merlot, Cabernet & Sangiovese grapes that comprise this wine. A windy and cooler September insured healthy & phenolically mature clusters were obtained during harvest. Tasting Notes Intensely red in colour with purple reflections, this wine contains aromas of forest berries, sweet spice and vanilla bean. Round and harmonious on the palate, this wine has sweet tannins and a delicate finish.

Made from a single vineyard of old vines, this wine is only produced in excellent vintages. It ages for 30 months in large hand selected barrels, used only for this wine. The nose is extremely complex and
broad with the classic Sangiovese notes of marasca cherry and
violets, but there are also scents of orange peel, sage, and balsamic. On the palate, it is dense, structured, and savory with silky, integrated tannins and fragrant acidity, with a finish you won't soon forget.This wine comes as a 3-pack in a beautiful sealed wooden box, however there is the ability to purchase a single bottle. The Gropello group of grapes features mostly Gropello Gentile and definitely the wine of the Lombardia side of Lake Garda and the Riviera del Garda DOC. This elegant wine features a strong, spicy note with strawberry and ripe fruit. On the palate it is sweet and balanced with a hint of savouriness.

Custoza in the hills of Lake Garda, is the region where the village of Del Fra is situated. The Magro vineyard is small and over 30 years old where this field blend of Garganega, Trebbiano Toscana, Cortese and Incrocio Manzoni come together to make this aromatic, intense, fruit-packed wine full of apple, pear, stone fruits, tropical fruit aromas along with a textural palate of wet stones and honey. Giusti Augusto Recantina is a red wine produced by Giusti Wine winery located in Veneto, Italy. The wine is made using 100% Recantina grapes, which are grown in the vineyards surrounding the winery. Recantina is an indigenous grape variety of Veneto, known for its intense color, tannins, and high acidity. Sottimano is a family-run winery in the Barbaresco zone of Piedmont, Italy. The 2018 vintage of their single-vineyard Pajore Barbaresco is a beautiful expression of Nebbiolo, with aromas of red berries, rose petals, and tar. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, with firm tannins and a long finish. This wine is still quite young and will benefit from some additional bottle aging, but it has already received high scores from wine critics, with Antonio Galloni of Vinous awarding it a score of 96/100.

Sottimano Barbaresco Cotta 2018 is a full-bodied red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, grown in the prestigious Barbaresco subregion of Piedmont, Italy. Tua Rita Perlato del Bosco Bianco is a white blend wine that is produced by Tua Rita winery in Tuscany, Italy. Made in only the best vintages, the grapes for the Trefiano Carmignano Riserva come from five hectares of vineyards surrounding the historic Villa di Trefiano located in the Carmignano DOCG. The Trefiano DOCG is made from a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo. The wine is aged in tonneaux for 16 months and a further year in a bottle. Ruby red colour, medium-bodied, with black plum fruit, balanced acidity and tannins. Complex with good age-ability.

Terrano is one of the few red grapes of the Carso region, and much rarer than its Tazzelenghe or Schioppettino counterparts. Yet, the quality is unmistakable as the grape expresses the terroir very well. In fact, the grape name means “red earth” due to the soil it’s grown in. There is a certain Barbera-like quality to the crunchy, earth-tinged red fruits and the bright, zingy acidity of the wine, yet there is more finesse and purity. Fresh herbs and red licorice on the palate add complexity, and the concentration is surprising given its exceedingly modest alcohol level, typically never exceeding 12.5% alcohol. A unique wine, but well suited to the North American palate. 

Friuli-Venezia Giulia is one of the smallest regions in Italy, yet also one of the mightiest. With a plethora of indigenous grape varieties not grown outside of the region, and even fewer producers that are embracing them, Zidarich is truly one of the best.

There are many “malvasia” named grapes within Italy, with some more quality than others. One of the best Malvasia grapes is Istriana, grown in the Friuli region as well as neighbouring Slovenia. Benjamin Zidarich practices biodynamic viticulture, picking grapes and bottling wine according to the phases of the moon. He will tell you that the grapes are grown by the sun and the earth, and the wine is grown by the moon.  The nose has notes of white peaches, oriental mixed spices, mineral, and stony notes. Maceration on the skins will give the wine slight tannins that overlay crunchy stone fruits, savoury herbs, and crushed stony minerality.
