This is a surprisingly thin wine from this classic vineyard and stellar vintage. Flavors of strawberry, watermelon and cranberry seem dilute, and there is little backup as the wine trails out the finish. Luscious and ripe black fruits ride an effortless texture in this seamless and well-balanced wine. Minutely grained tannins weave through dark plums, spearmint, cocoa and black cherries. While enticing and drinkable, the wine should have a long, more complex life ahead.

The FAY Cabernet Sauvignon displays vibrant red fruit fragrances accompanied by hints of black tea, olive, and baking spices. It features a harmonious texture that is well-balanced, and the mid-palate boasts a pleasant concentration of berry fruit that culminates in a finish of cinnamon and spices. This vintage is more opulent than previous ones, which is typical of the year's characteristics.

One of the great vineyards of Napa Valley, farmer Nathan Fay planted this in 1961. It was the first vineyard planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in the Stags' Leap District. Stag's Leap cellars purchased the vineyard in 1986 and it continues to be one of the signature wines of the lineup, garnering 90+ scores year after year. The 2019 shows dust, clove and graphite with secondary hints of violet, sage and tree bark. While this can be enjoyed now, it is recommended to cellar and enjoy from 2029-2039. Sourced primarily from cooler appellations within Napa Valley, this Cabernet Sauvignon is fresh and vibrant with layers of bright red berry fruits, alongside a floral potpourri. Baking spice notes of caramel, clove and cedar are also present, a nod to the well-integrated oak character. On the palate, complimentary flavors of Bing cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, and cassis accompany baking spice notes and hints of anise, crafting a Cabernet that is rich and plush with a mouth filling texture. Still Austin is a grain-to-glass distillery founded in Austin, Texas in 2015. For the brand’s Straight Bourbon, 100% of the grains were sourced from Texas farmers. The mash bill is 70% non-GMO white corn, 25% Elbon rye, and 5% Wildfire malted barley. It’s aged for at least two years in new, charred American oak barrels. The label artwork entitled ‘The Musician’ was created by Texas-native Marc Burckhardt and is the first in a series of portraits of “archetypical” Austinites created for the brand.
