A family business created in 1979, Champagne Gremillet is today managed by the founder's children, Anna and Jean-Christophe Gremillet. Around 50 embassies and consulates around the world choose Gremillet for their receptions. The house produces nearly 500,000 bottles of Champagne each year and is increasing in demand. This Champagne is made from 85% pinot noir and 15% chardonnay, coming from several terroirs and four to five different vintages, and 20% ​​Reserva wine. Now, completely organic, it is fruity, fresh and balanced; ideal for all occasions.

A new, no age statement addition to the Laphroaig family that blends together Quarter Cask, PX, Triple Wood, and 10 year old. The nose is reminiscent of freshly-treated decking, before some classic iodine creeps in. Water brings out geranium, pollen, and damp leather. The palate is simple, clean, and mild (and smoky), with bay leaf, light dried fruit, and that oily wood. Undoubtedly there's a lot going on, but it’s not married, and 40% means it lacks the necessary wallop.

Refill bourbon, American oak, and virgin oak are the woods in question. Technically, they are all American oak, just at different flavor-giving stages of their productive lives. This is a substantially fleshy, rounded white wine, offering concentrated flavors of almond paste, white peach and crème brûlée. The oak is integrated and supportive, with nuanced wisps of nutmeg and vanilla.

Little is known about this tiny family winery, but the wines are spectacular and true to Sangiovese from Montalcino. With only 7ha purchased in 2000, winemaker Jessica Pellegrini is a rising star in the area making elegant wines that are organic. The 2015 vintage was excellent and with lovely cherry nib, balsamic and tomato leaf, it is a wine for the ages that you will want to drink again and again.

The SLV has generous dark fruit aromas of black currant, plum, candied fig and cocoa dust. The palate is dense, yet polished with tannins that meld with layers of dark fruit, fig and violet. The structure and tannins of this wine point to its ageability. Lay this one down for a few years and drink from 2026-2039. This too scored high - 99 points from Wine Enthusiast. The Danimi Votiva Bianco is a white wine made from a blend of Fiano, Greco and Falanghina grapes grown in the Irpinia region of Campania, Italy. Grignolino is a light-coloured tannic grape variety from the Monferrato region of Piemonte, where quality grape varieties grow in abundance. Always a nose of dried flowers, berry jam, pepper and cloves. Extremely high tannins, yet classy with a bold personality!

The art of making fine bourbon first took place on the site of the Woodford Reserve Distillery, a National Historic Landmark, in 1812. You get that sense of history. The history of bourbon is the history of Kentucky, is the history of the United States. Woodford Reserve Rye uses a pre-prohibition style ratio of 53% rye in its mash bill to pay homage to history’s original rye whiskeys, making spice and tobacco the dominant note among a sea of fruit, floral, and sweet aromatics, which yields a nice sweetness and overall balance. After all - balanced rye makes a more balanced cocktail.

Nose: Spicy with distinct notes of rye, black pepper, cedar and cassia bark sweetened with a dusting of marzipan. Hints of pear, apple and almond dance in its depths.

Palate: Clove, rye, mint, molasses, sorghum and honey mingle with hints of apple and malt.

Finish: Long and sweetly spiced

The nose is a rich complex of fresh juniper, followed quickly by coriander and a complexity of gin flavours. Hints of citrus mingle with oriental spices. On adding a mixer, the citrus, lemon, orange - and even bergamot - open out, as do hints of cinammon, cloves and even saffron. A medium-length finish leaves you ready for the next mouthful.
