Eau de Vigne Grappolo, crafted from Gewürztraminer grapes, undergoes a unique maceration process with chamomile flowers, enhanced by a touch of honey harvested in the spring from bee hives located in Parkdale, Calgary. This combination brings together the aromatic intensity of the grape, the soothing qualities of chamomile, and the natural sweetness of local honey, creating a distinctive and elegant spirit.

An elegant and perfumed bouquet graced with delightful essences of red cherry, raspberry, violet, and lavender is subtly framed by moderate wood and menthol influences. The palate begins with a caressing mouthfeel that swiftly transitions to a firm, muscular structure, showcasing well-detailed and comparatively robust flavors. This dynamic leads to a vigorous and more harmoniously balanced finish, maintaining its intensity throughout.

The wine presents aromas of spice, black fruit, cherry and licorice. The tannins are dense, and the palate is fresh and elegant. Notes of jam and black cherry.

Frédéric Barnier, Jadot’s esteemed winemaker, and his team balance tradition and technology, focusing on the purest expression of each wine’s terroir.  Founded in 1859, the house now owns 528 acres of vineyards, including 280 acres of the Cote d’Or’s most prestigious Premier and Grand Cru plots. Brisk deep purple, this is a solid multi-textured wine with depth of flavour and a certain darkness to it but it remains superbly balanced in tannins and acidity. An extremely perfumed and exotic wine.

A new NAS expression from Scapa on Orkney, matured entirely in first-fill American oak casks. An initial hint of lime cordial, then musty peaches, almonds, cinnamon, and table salt. More peaches on the palate, with tinned pear and a little honey. Tingling spices in the drying finish, which soon becomes quite bitter – detracting from the overall balance.

Triticale is a wheat/rye hybrid, which I guess appealed to the wheat-mad Dry Fly distillers. Aromas of grass, bubble gum, and oak. Taste is young, brashly sweet, but smooth enough to spread easily over the tongue. There’s spice—light cinnamon, a zip of allspice heat—and grassy brightness, but they’re dressing on the juicy sweet center. Not flawed, and well-made, but I wish it had more to say.

Nose: Intense aromas of blackberry, cassis, and dark cherry, with hints of vanilla, cedar, and tobacco.

Taste: Rich and full-bodied, with flavors of ripe black fruits, plum, and blackcurrant, complemented by notes of chocolate, espresso, and baking spices.

Palate: Velvety and smooth, with well-integrated tannins and a long, lingering finish of blackberry jam and toasted oak.

Good intensity on the nose with savoury, inky, mocha notes. Full bodied yielding tannins and dry chewy finish.

The Remy Martin Louis XIII Dragon Coffret, designed by Chinese artist Liu Li Hong, it is a limited edition coffret designed for 2024 Lunar New Year. In a special celebration edition for the Lunar New Year, Year of the Dragon, the Louis XIII cognac, starts life aged in individual cellars in centuries-old barrels, which helps to give it its rich, full flavour.

Bright, forceful and slightly reductive, this white is aged less than a year in neutral French oak, allowing the fruit to speak and offer richness on the midpalate. Gingerbread and lemongrass flavors accent its essential core of green apple fruit.

Domaine Dame Jeanne Prémices Roses is an organic, biodynamic sparkling rosé (often labeled Vin de France or Crémant de Bourgogne) crafted by Jeanne Piollot in Molesme, near the Champagne border. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, this "Rosé de Macération" offers a dry, fresh, and mineral-driven taste with notes of red berries, strawberry, and citrus. It is aged for 24 months on lees with little to no dosage.

Winemaker Steve Doerner has been making wine for 37 years - 14 years at Calera in California and 23 years at Cristom in Oregon. Luke Jefferson is his new wine project with miniscule production, first released as 40 cases with the 2013 vintage and 120 cases in 2014. The wine is named as an homage to his 2-year-old son, Luke Jefferson Doerner, and is also a nod to Thomas Jefferson, whom Steve admires. Steve's spouse, Irene Steh-Doerner, is also part of the family project. The wine allows Steve to pursue making a wine that suits his personal vision and palate apart from the Cristom style. Domaine Louis Cheze is a family winery located in the town of Limony in the northern part of the Saint Joseph AOC. This cuvée has been made since the 1990 vintage. Roussanne is grown on the hillsides and the Marsanne on the plateau. The plot is close to the property on the heights of Limony. The nose has acacia aromas and hawthorn to honeyed notes. The palate has an unctuous mouth feel with more of the flavour of acacia and honey along with toasted, nutty notes.

This family estate was established during the 19th century and today more than half of the vineyard is more than 40 years old. Piollot Champagnes carries on old Champagne traditions, now bringing in organic and biodynamic viticulture to amplify the authenticity of their Champagnes. One doesn't see Champagne made from 100% Pinot Blanc, but that is what makes this Champagne completely unique. This Champagne has zero dosage and 5 years on the lees. On the nose, gourmet aromas of mirabelle plum, mint, guava and lily flowers, all enveloped in musky flavours with a palate that is lively and powerful yet with a fine and pleasant bubble.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Review - Rated 96:

The 2020 Masseto now sees new DNA with a touch of Cabernet Franc added to this celebrated Merlot-based icon wine. This is a vintage of enormous richness and density, and everything about the wine is taken up a notch or two (including the bottle glass weight and the 15% alcohol content). But Axel Heinz and his team are well prepared for the hot vintages like 2020, and changes to farming and canopy management ensure even ripening. This wine is always hard to analyze in its youth. It needs many more years to soften and flesh out. Give it time.
