The 2012 Les Forts de Latour is a highly rated second wine from Château Latour, composed of roughly 75–76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot. Primarily 100% Sauvignon Blanc (with minor Sauvignon Gris), it is known for its intense citrus, floral notes, mineral-driven, chalky profile, and bright acidity, often described as Loire-like.

An exquisite fusion of Garnacha and Cariñena (Carignan), offering a compelling alternative to Cotes du Rhone. Camino del Bosque, made with 60% Garnacha and 40% Cariñena, is sourced from the village of Almonacid de la Sierra in Zaragoza. The former undergoes fermentation in stainless steel, while the latter takes on the process in concrete and oak, utilizing indigenous yeasts. Maintaining a meticulous aging process, thirty percent of the blend matures in concrete, around 5% in clay pots (tinaja), and the remainder in oak barriques and oak vats over a 14-month period. This red blend is characterized by its juicy, primary, fruit-forward profile, showcasing ripened notes of plums, dark berries, and Mediterranean herbs. This limited edition release from Laphroaig, bottled in March 2017, underwent a unique maturation process. Initially aged in refill hogsheads, a portion was transferred to refill quarter casks, while the rest remained in first-fill bourbon barrels. The Kentucky Owl Mardi Gras XO Cask Limited Edition is an exclusive release crafted by finishing an 11-year-old Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey in Bayou Rum XO Casks for over a year. This unique whiskey, celebrating Mardi Gras and Louisiana pride, is bottled at 102.8 proof (51.4% ABV). On the nose, it offers robust toasted rye bread notes with farm-fresh sweet butter, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg. The palate is rich with flavors of rye whiskey and sweet butter whipped with allspice, culminating in a smooth finish with sweet, buttery notes and a warming nutmeg coda.

The name "Confiscated" pays tribute to a warehouse of Kentucky Owl barrels lost in 1916. As Prohibition loomed, government forces, emboldened by the temperance movement's growing influence, seized over $40 million worth of bourbon from then-Master Blender C.M. Dedman. This event, coupled with the devastating impact of Prohibition, led to Kentucky Owl's decline into obscurity. Nearly a century later, Dedman's great-great-grandson, Master Blender Dixon Dedman, revived the brand, drawing inspiration from these long-lost barrels for his latest release.

Echézeaux is fragrant, fine, full and silky and full of flavour. The 'Cuvée 49' is, as you might expect, from a single parcel of vines in the Echézeaux du Dessus lieu-dit, planted in 1949, so very special. Grands Echézeaux shows richness and opulence, in a plump softer style.

Nose: Strong herbal aroma with hints of anise, licorice, and citrus.
Taste: Bold and complex flavors of herbs, spices, and botanicals, with a slight sweetness.
Palate: Smooth and velvety texture, with a warming sensation and a long, lingering finish.

Meursault is the centre of the four communes (Meursault, Blagny, Chassagne and Puligny) comprising that part of the Côte de Beaune known as the "Côte des Blancs", named for the quality and predominance of its white wines. Grown exclusively to Chardonnay, the soils here are chalky and white marl, resulting in wines with bright acidity. This wine also rests on the lees for texture and body. Aromas of brioche, hazelnut and spice anda medium body and supple texture that carry into a persistent finish.

Hibiki 21 Year Old is a highly awarded, complex Japanese blended whisky known for its seductive, harmonious balance of sweet fruits (blackberry, apricot), rich caramel/honey, subtle Mizunara oak spice, and a long, incense-like finish, presented in an iconic, beautifully faceted bottle symbolizing Japan's seasons. Henry Pelham Riesling VQA is a pale straw-colored wine with aromatic notes of grapefruit and juniper, mineral, and floral elements, according to LCBO and Willow Park Wines & Spirits. On the palate, it offers a medium-plus body with a light spritz and dry finish, balanced by moderate acidity and citrus fruit flavors. Some vintages may include notes of lime zest, ripe apple, and pear, with a silky texture and refreshing finish.

The 2022 Harlan Estate is an opulent, world-class Bordeaux blend (primarily Cabernet Sauvignon) from Napa Valley’s Oakville AVA. The 2022 vintage was marked by early harvest and low yields, resulting in a vibrant, full-bodied wine balancing intense aromatic energy with seamless, structured tannins.

The 2017 Harlan Estate is a profound, full-bodied Napa Valley red blend (78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot). It is celebrated for its lush, opulent dark fruit profile—boasting cassis, blackcurrant, and boysenberry—layered with espresso, cloves, graphite, and toasted oak.

This crystal-clear elixir combines Grey Goose vodka with a concentrated citrus extract sourced from lemons grown in the prestigious Menton region of France. This wine is from a contiguous parcel that sits astride the Clos Prieur du Haut (classified 1er Cru) and the Clos Prieur du Bas (classified as a village wine); rather than create two tiny cuvées, the domaine prefers to blend the two to make an extra-fine village wine from the lieu-dit “Clos Prieur”. Harmand-Geoffroy owns a bit less than a half-hectare of vineyards in Clos Prieur and the vines therein were planted between 50 and 85 years ago. In our opinion, this is one of the finest village wines available from Gevrey; it is elegant yet powerful with a compelling density and ripe, sweet tannins.

The 30-year-old single malt from Glengoyne is a must-try for whisky enthusiasts. Richly sherried and full-bodied, it was matured in traditional dunnage warehouses, using one-third first-fill European oak Sherry butts and two-thirds refill Sherry butts. Bottled non-chill-filtered at its natural color and 46.8% ABV, this Highland single malt is a limited release, with only 6,000 bottles crafted from 13 casks available each year.

An impressive 1952 Glen Grant single malt from Gordon & MacPhail's Private Collection, matured in a single first-fill sherry butt for 70 years, was bottled to honour the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 6 February 2022, the date of her accession. The nose reveals aromas of beeswax, ripe figs, toffee, orange zest, raisins, and aged leather, while the palate offers notes of blackberry compote, clementine, milk chocolate, black pepper, and a hint of wood smoke, all lingering through the finish.

This single malt whisky, distilled at Milton, now known as Strathisla, holds the distinction of being the oldest distillery in Speyside. Distilled in 1949, this remarkable expression spent an astounding 72 years maturing in a first fill sherry puncheon before being meticulously bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2022 at a dignified 48.6% ABV. Upon nosing, the whisky unveils a captivating array of aromas, including baked forest fruits, fresh vanilla, and a rich influence of sherry, setting the stage for an enticing palate experience. Upon tasting, one is greeted with flavors reminiscent of apple pie, vibrant citrus notes, and indulgent caramel. The finish lingers gracefully, leaving impressions of toffee apple and a subtle hint of smoke, further enhancing the whisky's complexity and depth.

Fragrant mandarin peel and rich Sherry aromas intertwine, followed by notes of salted almonds, raspberry compote, and a hint of malted biscuit. Roasted coffee beans transition into walnuts and stewed raisins, while blackcurrant jam harmonizes with Seville orange peel and red apple. The palate concludes with a long finish marked by lingering hazelnuts and cocoa powder.

Glenburgie is emerging as one of my preferred Speyside distilleries due to its consistent delivery of tropical fruit notes, a characteristic that particularly appeals to my palate. The 21 years of maturation in this distillery-label bottling from Gordon & MacPhail are expected to enhance these flavors. At 46% ABV and aged for at least 21 years, this expression promises to showcase the distinctive Glenburgie profile. Despite initial impressions of stale sulfur and mustiness on the nose, accompanied by earthy and grassy undertones, familiar Glenburgie characteristics of apples, peaches, tropical fruit, and honey emerge. The palate reveals a medium texture with flavors of honey, peaches, lemongrass, and elderflower, leading to an intriguing development of fragrant oak, ripe mango, and subtle sulfurous notes. The finish, medium in length, offers layers of sweetness with caramel, honey, chocolate, and fruity accents, complemented by floral hints. While hints of earthy sulfur persist throughout, the overall experience presents a rich and flavorful exploration of Glenburgie's renowned profile.

Glen Mhor, often overshadowed by its more celebrated peers like Brora and Port Ellen, holds a distinct allure in the realm of lost distilleries. While it may lack the romanticism of its counterparts, its significance cannot be understated, particularly as one of the components used to recreate the legendary Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt. Now, four decades removed from its last spirit run, Glen Mhor releases are increasingly scarce and highly coveted, exemplified by offerings like this one. Bottled from Refill Sherry Hogshead #72, yielding a mere 174 bottles, this expression has garnered an impressive 93 points on Whiskyfun, a testament to its exceptional quality. With its natural color, non-chill filtration, and robust 50.8% ABV, this bottling embodies the essence of Glen Mhor's legacy, destined to be cherished by whisky enthusiasts fortunate enough to acquire it.
