Don Mateo Pechuga offers a pure taste of Michoacan, crafted from maguey Cenizo or Cupreata, unlike most exported pechuga mezcals made with maguey Espadin. During the third distillation, Emilio Vieyra’s mother adds her special recipe, including chicken breast, deer meat, and select spices, giving the mezcal a fuller, richer taste. It features a nose of roasted agave, tropical fruits, citrus, earthy notes, and spice, with a great texture and weight on the palate. Some batches may use different meats instead of chicken.

In 2006, Don Julio, with his family, planted their final agave field. In honor of his devotion and craftsmanship, this agave harvest was carefully distilled, barreled, and set aside for a special use. To preserve this tequila and the exquisite agave piñas behind it, we have implemented a Solera aging system. The Solera aging method combines and matures tequilas of different characteristics finished in unique casks, allowing the final agave harvest to remain at the heart of this rare Extra Añejo Tequila.
