Powerful and rich-tasting, this wine from Joseph Wagner is velvety in texture and spicy in aroma. It drips with jammy, Port-like flavors that are backed by fine-grained tannins that tighten a bit on the finish for a good grip.

Nose: Intense aromas of blackberries, black cherries, and plums, with hints of tobacco and cedar.

Taste: Rich and full-bodied, with flavors of dark chocolate, blackcurrants, and espresso.

Palate: Velvety smooth tannins, well-balanced acidity, and a long, lingering finish.

COLOUR: Golden amber
AROMA: Dried and candied fruits like mango and apricot, plums, raisins, quince.
PALATE: Lovely balance between the fruits, sweetness and acidity. The wine develops on layers of flavours between the candied and dried fruits, the acidity combines with some bitter notes due to the slow oxidation in cask to bring nerve to the wine before leaving us on a beautiful complex finish lingering on spicy notes.

The wine is a statement for the region with its beauty, power of fruit, tannins, taste, style and a long finish. Yet, it also encompasses elements of elegance and finesse.

Very pale salmon colour. Fully ripe grapes. Very vinous nose. Masses of fruit and only the merest hint of fermentation aromas. Apparently 1.7 g/l residual sugar but it tastes more. High extract because berries are very small. Real mouthful of charming fruit. Very commercial I would have thought. Designed for the on trade. Mouthful of venosity. Well done!

Negro Amaro, a black grape grown in Puglia, the heel of Italy's boot, is often misspelled: unlike what is seen on many labels, it is two distinct words and should be written that way. Wines made with negro amaro are always dense, thick with blackberry, black cherry, licorice with clove and cocoa accents. Tenuta del Pajaru is Certified organic, using only natural yeasts and non-intervention winemaking, the wines express their sense of place. 100% Vermentino. Santadi Vermentino di Sardegna “Villa Solais” DOC is brilliant straw yellow, with green and golden highlights. Very fresh, citrusy nose with appealing minerality, confirmed on the balanced palate, which also features floral, fruity and mineral notes.

Colour: ruby red tending towards garnet with ageing.
Bouquet: vinous and delicate with sometimes hints of bitter almonds.
Taste: full and velvety flavour.

Wine Enthusiast: On the greener, vegetal side, this opens with notes of bell pepper, tomato stem and white spice, with pineapple, passion fruit and lemon trailing behind. Crisp, almost searing acidity is the first thing you notice on the palate, but there's just enough texture to tip the scales back toward center. Young and rather shrill. Christina Pickard

A Cape Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Merlot, Shiraz and Mouvedre.  We tasted this wine in Feb 2026 and found it to be very showing well now.  A great find.  My notes would read - "this wine is fully developed, enjoy now, it is not suitable for further aging.  It is at the top of its game.
