Toko Fukurotsuri Junmai Daiginjo is an ultra-premium, award-winning sake from Kojima Sohonten (est. 1597) in Yamagata, Japan, characterized by a luxurious, silky texture produced via gravity-drip (Fukurotsuri) extraction. Made from 35% polished Yamada Nishiki rice, it features intense fruity/floral notes like melon, lychee, and pear with a clean, elegant finish.

Mistinguett Brut is an ode to all women who work hard to achieve their dreams and refers to the French artist Mistinguett. The winery Vallformosa produces this special cava in the Penedes. Vallformosa means beautiful valley in Catalan. It's the Domenech family who have been working the land since 1865 with great passion to make the grapes grow best in the hills. New vineyards have been acquired over the years and now it is the fifth generation that continues the tradition of winemaking.

From the prestigious area of Montefalco in Umbria, Perticaia is embracing all the native grapes of the area. This rosato is made from 80% Sagrantino, which is undoubtedly one of the most tannic grapes in all of Italy, balanced by 20% Sangiovese.  The wine is fine and elegant with floral hints of wild rose and fruity hints of peach and grapefruit. Well balanced with medium, mouth-watering acidity.

The rosé displays a beautiful pale color. On the nose, it is complex and balanced with aromas of strawberries, redcurrant, and grenadine. The palate is well-balanced, offering a nice fresh length.

Château de la Vieille Tour Reserve Tradition 2020 is a dense, dark-fruited organic Bordeaux red blend (typically 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon). This 14.50% ABV wine balances velvety tannins with deep, ripe berries, making it an excellent, structured addition to your cellar.

The 2021 Giscours has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of dark berries and licorice mingled with hints of violet and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and suave, it's seamless and enveloping, with good depth at the core, beautifully polished tannins and a long, perfumed finish. This is one of the real successes of the vintage. As readers may remember, it's a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. Drink 2027-2045.

Another little gem from the oldest family winery in Italy. Since 1141, Ricasoli has been producing wines of great character and quality. Made from 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino, the wine is aged for 9 months in used tonneaux.

The Frias Family Vineyard 'Lady of the Dead' Red offers an enticing nose of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and hints of vanilla. The Marion Farm, located in the unspoiled Marcellise valley east of Verona, is a small family run property managed by Stefano Campedelli, his wife Nicoletta and her brother Marco and their two sons. Under the guidance of the ex-cellar master at Guiseppe Quintarelli and current adviser to Romano dal Forno, Marion was born. The wine presents a pale cherry-garnet hue and an aromatic, almost floral bouquet with hints of spice, dried cherry, cranberry, and seasoned wood. On the palate, it offers round and ripe flavors of fresh, juicy red fruits, displaying balance and finesse. This wine is elegant with a long, lingering finish, showcasing Campedelli's expertise and dedication to quality winemaking.

Intense dark core and a ruby rim. Aromatic and floral nose with rose petal, violet, sweet red fruit and fresh grape aromas. Medium weight on the palate, youthful still with a slight tannic bite, fresh grape and red berry notes with white pepper, and dried herb notes, fine length, and balance, should just need another few years of ageing.

Kanonkop Estate, renowned for crafting some of the finest red wines in the Cape, is celebrated as a South African "First Growth." This fourth-generation family farm, currently managed by brothers Johann and Paul Krige, has been under the stewardship of the Sauer-Krige family since the early 1930s.

This classic Simonsberg Cabernet captures a remarkable coolness, even within the context of a warm vintage. The J.M. Fuentes Gran Clos is a highly acclaimed, full-bodied red wine from the rugged DOCa Priorat region of Spain. Known for its remarkable depth and aging potential, this iconic blend features old-vine Garnacha (Grenache) and Carinena (Carignan), blended with varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

This wine is smooth, ripe with fine tannins and red plum and black-currant fruits that are soft and gentle. Acidity dominates at this stage, supported by the tannins. It brings out the fruit and freshness of the year while also keeping some structure from the high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. Drink from 2025.

Phantom Creek Estates Becker Cuvée is a full-bodied, rich Bordeaux-style blend from BC's Black Sage Bench, showcasing intense dark fruit (plum, cherry, cassis) with savory notes (sage, forest floor, spice, dark chocolate, oak), balanced by fine tannins, a smooth mouthfeel, and a long, refined finish, representing the pioneering spirit of the historic Becker Vineyard. 

Winemaking
After a pre-fermentative cold maceration, the fermentation of the must with the skins takes place at a controlled temperature for 12 days, followed by malolactic fermentation. Then the wine is aged for 6 months in tonneaux and 6 months in stainless steel tanks and 4 months in a bottle.

Tasting Notes
The wine takes on a pale ruby colour. Intense aromas are jampacked with blackberry, raspberry, blueberry and a slight peppery note. On the palate, it is dry, medium-bodied, has well-ripened soft tannins, elegant with plenty of acidity and a touch of spice.

With their winery located with the National Park area of Gran Sasso, this family owned winey began their estate in the early 1900's when the first vineyards were purchased but it wasn't until two generations later, the family decided to bottle wines under their own label. When the first grandchild was born, she had flaming red har just like her grandmother, so the label created was "Testarossa" (redhead). This 100% Montepulciano has aromas of plums and cherries with nuances of violet. On the palate it's full-bodied with ripe red cherry, cocoa, licorice, tobacco, leather with smooth tannins and a long finish. The bottle boasts a leather label on this 1.5 L.

Casa Raia was purchased in 2006 by Frenchman Pierre Jean Monnoyer who restored the old vineyards and began producing natural wines with three labels, the "supertuscan" Bevilo, a Sangiovese Rose and this Brunello di Montalcino. Made with 100% Sangiovese (as required by law) this ageable beauty is elegant with a nose of cherry, cinnamon, thyme and hints of pencil shavings and earth. Certainly one of the best "natural" wines out there.
