The estate vineyards of Opus One, comprised of 4 parcels, sit in the western portion of the famed Oakville AVA. Two parcels, totaling 100 acres, are within the renowned To Kalon Vineyard. These are complemented by the combined 70 acres of the Ballestra and River parcels, which envelop the winery. In the vineyards, hand-harvesting and other traditional approaches are taken wherever they work best. When modern techniques benefit the winegrowing process, they are researched, evaluated and integrated into practice.

Mature first impressions from this Pavie 2007, with its intense ruby color and violet highlights, reveal a carefully crafted structure and concentration. The aromatic range is very expressive, showing ripe and juicy aromas of pepper, abundant spice, licorice and black cherry jam. The wine is smooth and supple in the mouth, with a tight and powerful texture from well-presented tannins; the mid-palate is worthy of a great terroir. This dense wine from a rather difficult vintage with a hint of severity needs time and aeration for greater accessibility. A long finish of flavorful, complex aromas with pepper and cinnamon notes. Prepare rich meats for this wine, like flank steak, beef cheek stew, thyme-scented lamb filet, or a winter dish of feathered game.

1986 is an astonishing vintage; its very slow development in a way reminds us of the previous generation's wines. Its tannic structure is very tight-knit, very dense and softens only very slightly from year to year. The bouquet is starting to open up; however, we feel that it is still only showing a limited part of its enormous potential. It is full and rich on the palate, still a little bit firm. Should we drink it?. A great vintage, but which seems to belong to another, older era.

2009 is perhaps the greatest young Château Margaux we have tasted over the last 30 years. The 2009 Château Margaux is an unparalleled vintage in its tannic power and fullness (reminding us of 2005) and its softness (reminiscent of 1990). And since its alcoholic degree is barely over 13, its finish remains fresh, flavoursome and of astonishing length. When to drink it? This is a question that is difficult to answer as it already gives so much pleasure, but with such enormous potential.

The Cabernet, is both fine and dense at the same time and dominates the personality of the Château Margaux 2007. The Merlot gives full, tender and rich texture, along with the Cabernet Franc which clearly benefited from the conditions of the vintage. We can start drinking it now even if wisdom would have us wait several more years.

Deep ruby-red color is not quite opaque. The aromas are tightly wound being dusty at first over cassis, them becoming more ceadry & perhaps chalky. The palate is tight & closed at present. There is a delicate leafy cassis fruit but the wine is dominated by plentiful, fine, smooth tannins. Acidity is good alcohol is balanced & the finish has superb length. The wine's fruit is largely closed up, but its excellent balance suggests this could open spectacularly with age.

Surprisingly woodsy, with truffle, cassis, earth, tobacco, cedar chest and blackberry in the developed nose. There is a nice softness to the tannins and fruit. Not yet fully mature, but quite developed for a vintage of Latour at 10 years of age, the wine offers pleasure, refined textures, balance and sweet berries in the finish. Drink now, or wait 5 years for more complexity

Medium to deep ruby red in color. Notes of graphite & chocolate dominate the dark fruit on the nose. The palate is big, rich and concentrated with lots of cassis that is lifted by good acidity. The tannins are huge with good grip, but do not quite close-up the fruit. Alcohol is balanced and the finish has good length. A big wine but with lively fruit & good equilibrium

A "Spotlight Viognier," often from producers like Play Estate, is a vibrant, aromatic white wine known for floral notes (honeysuckle, rose), stone fruits (peach, apricot, nectarine), tropical hints, and a full, sometimes creamy body with low acidity, balancing rich flavors with a fresh palate, excellent with spicy Asian, creamy chicken, or pork dishes. 

This has the typical structure of a Saint-Estèphe, fleshed out with ripe black fruits. There is fine juicy acidity and rich tannins. An impressive opulence gives this wine good potential.

Nikka The Grain Discovery Edition 2023 is a rare, 48% ABV Japanese blended grain whisky focusing on diverse grain production. It blends components from four Nikka distilleries (Miyagikyo, Moji, Satsuma Tsukasa, and closed Nishinomiya) created using Aeneas Coffey stills. The 2023 expression is noted for a complex, creamy, and spicy profile.

Adelphi presents this bottling of 2015 vintage Welsh whisky from the lovely Penderyn Distillery. It was aged for 8 years in a single cask which filled 247 bottles at 56.9% ABV. This single malt is presented without chill-filtration and with its natural colour.

Always one of the top performers in Margaux, this dense and concentrated wine has a bold, ripe character from the plum and berry fruits. It has the weight to develop. Drink from 2020.

Inspired by the finest wines of Germany and crafted by the acclaimed Armin Diel, proprietor of the renowned Schlossgut Diel, this wine reflects exceptional craftsmanship. The 2014 Columbia Valley growing season was the warmest on record, prompting growers to take extra care in the vineyards to ensure the Riesling grapes arrived at the winery full of fresh, vibrant character. Each canopy interior was hand-pruned and carefully trimmed to protect the clusters from excessive sun exposure while promoting uniform ripening. The warm fall temperatures accelerated ripening, while the Columbia Valley's signature cool autumn evenings preserved the grapes’ natural acidity.

Yjar is a blend of old vines of Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha, Granegro, and Rojal, all indigenous to the region. Selected from the property’s oldest and finest plots, the wine is vinified and aged in French oak barriques for 30 months. Despite Rioja’s tumultuous history, Telmo Rodríguez is demonstrating the region’s ability to produce world-class wines, and Yjar is a testament to his success in doing so.

Made with the same grapes and care that go into the Leitz award-winning “regular” Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, the wines are de-alcoholised through a low temperature vaccuum distillation process to ensure alcohol is removed without removing the all important natural aromas and remarkable properties of the terroir. Made with Merlot, Portugieser and Pinot Noir, the wine is clean and fresh with notes of pale strawberries, raspberry and citrus; slight hints of fresh grapefruit and an underlying mineral base. The finish is dry and relatively long.

Château de Montfrin has been in Jean-René de Fleurieu’s family since 1925 when his grandfather purchased the château and the vineyards. Jean-René took over in 2004 and today is supported by his daughter Aurore and Estate Manager Benjamin Beguin in the operation of the winery and its 100 hectares of organically farmed vineyards. In addition to vineyards, the estate also has olive groves. Looking after the land is a love affair for Jean-René and Benjamin. This is where they grew up, established roots and feel at home. The vineyards are spread out and are located in four different appellations: Pont du Gard, Costières de Nîmes, Côtes du Rhône, and Côtes du Rhône Villages. The vines grow in hallowed farmland made up of contrasting terrain, from the vast silty soils of the plains along the majestic Rhône to the sunny hillside of its banks and the stony plateaus of its now abandoned riverbeds.

This wine is a harmonious blend of perfectly ripened Grenache Blanc and Rousanne grapes grown on the pebbly terrain that radiates the warmth that builds up during the day. Signature Brands is operated by the father and son team of Marius Sr. and Marius Jr. Burger. They are integral members of South Africa’s Old Vine Project, an initiative started in 2002 by the iconic Vineyard Manager Rosa Kruger. Under Rosa’s guidance, growers with old vines get paired with winemakers who share their passion of not preserving South Africa’s old vines, but to manage them in such a way that they will consistently produce superior fruit to sustain their future.

The 1983 refers to the age of the vines. Grapes are carefully selected and hand harvested. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine stayed on its lees for three months. A small portion of the wine was then barrel aged for added complexity and richness.

This wine offers fragrant aromas of tropical and stone fruits, leading to rich, layered flavors of white peach, pineapple, and citrus, with a subtle touch of vanilla on the finish. It is pleasantly fresh with a lingering aftertaste, and the complexity and structure from old vineyard fruit promise excellent aging potential in the bottle.

Neil Ellis, one of our favourite South African producers has created this Sauvignon Blanc to rival many from Pouilly-Fume in the Loire valley. Using wild yeasts and creating only a few barrels, the name Amica is derived from the Latin Amicus which can be described as a gathering of friends, sharing good food and wine around the table. Barrel fermented for complexity this Sauvignon Blanc is a thing of beauty and can most certainly be aged for several years. An outstanding wine.

Periquita Red, produced by José Maria da Fonseca, is a historic, widely popular Portuguese dry red wine (first bottled in 1850) from the Setúbal Peninsula. Known for being fruit-forward,, juicy, and medium-bodied, it typically features flavors of black cherry, raspberry, and vanilla with soft tannins and a smooth finish.

Founded in 1911, Casaretti is considered one of the top producers in the Bardolino DOC. The 4th generation manages the estate of 13ha on the eastern shores of Lake Garda. Made with 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella and 10% Molinara, it is a fresh and vibrant rose with hints of peach and roses. Drink young with white fish and risotto.

Pairs well with: Fish appetizers, white meat and fish risotto, in particular with crustaceans

Ken Forrester Silver Rose is a 100% Grenache rosé from Stellenbosch, South Africa, featuring a delicate, light pink color and a refined, dry profile. It offers notes of strawberry, red berries, and pomegranate, with a medium-bodied, structured, and elegant palate. It is typically aged on fine lees for 9 months.

The vineyards of Michel Mallard located in Ladoix-Serrigny at the foot of Corton Hill in the Cotes de Beaune encompass all levels of vineyard quality: Villages, Premier Cru Grand Cru. Red wines of Corton will typically be more structured than wines of Vougeout, but perhaps not as powerful as Pommard. The Grand Cru of Le Rognet is a complex wine with notes of buleberry, blackberry and blackcurrant with nuances of licorice and pepper. Smooth and velvety tannins, this wine will age for a surprisingly long time.

Austria has come a long way in winemaking and this blend of their famous Zweigelt (crossing of Blaufrankisch and St. Laurent) with Cabernet Franc offers aromas and flavours of red berries and roses. Light on its feet, it reminds one of summer! Certified organic and vegan.

Mas Donis Rosat is a vibrant,, aromatic, and full-bodied Spanish rosé from DO Montsant (Capçanes), typically blending Garnatxa (Grenache) with Syrah and Merlot. It is known for its intense strawberry pink color, fresh red fruit flavors (cherry, raspberry), and a long,, slightly herbal, and mineral finish.

The Rosch family represents three generations of winemaking in the Mosel. Their land is 8.5ha of Riesling grown on mostly slate soils. With the cool climate, the grapes ripen later, then only natural yeasts are used which aid to express the terroir of the Mosel. The term "feinherb" is referred to as off-dry and with 19 g/L of residual sugar, the wine has aromas of apricots and peaches to match the racy acidity. A refreshing, harmonious wine with Drinkflusse(a nicer way of saying highly quaffable).

Neil Ellis is considered to be one of the most influencial pioneers of modern day winemaking in South Africa. The Syrah grapes from the Groenekloof vineyard were handpicked from low yielding bush vines. They produce a medium bodied wine with vibrant colours. The aroma is full of enticing dark fruit with contributing spicy undertones. There are lingering savoury notes in the long finish, accentuated by fine, elegant tannins. For the price, this is an excellent Syrah.

In the heart of Willamette Valley, Iris Vineyards on 870 acres features over 10 acres of Pinot Gris vines. Dry farmed for concentrated berries, this Pinot Gris has aromas of Asian pear and pineapple with a lively balanced palate of yellow apple and grapefruit. The versatility of this wine allows it to pair well with white fish, scallops, and yellow curry. A quality pinot gris from a quality area.

Since 1620, the Humbrecht family has been cultivating their wines in the great patchwork quilt terroirs of Alsace in northern France. Today, they own 42ha in several Grand Cru sites, including Rangen de Thann, the most southerly of the Alsace vineyards. The volcanic terroir of Rangen dominates the aromatics of this young wine with all its power: gunflint, crushed rocks, ripe white and green fruits, typical of the variety. Intense, high acidity and ripe tannins of the vintage make this wine extremely ageable.

One of the great vineyards of Napa Valley, farmer Nathan Fay planted this in 1961. It was the first vineyard planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in the Stags' Leap District. Stag's Leap cellars purchased the vineyard in 1986 and it continues to be one of the signature wines of the lineup, garnering 90+ scores year after year. The 2019 shows dust, clove and graphite with secondary hints of violet, sage and tree bark. While this can be enjoyed now, it is recommended to cellar and enjoy from 2029-2039. This vintage scored a perfect 100 points with Wine Enthusiast

With a blend of tropical fruit aromas including pineapple, banana, and ripe mango, complemented by notes of peaches and pears, the nose of the Montes Alpha Chardonnay  is intense and complex. Hints of grapefruit and white asparagus contribute to the coastal climate's influence on the wine. The palate offers a smooth and balanced acidity, leading to a fresh wine with ample volume.
