Michel Mallard'sLa Toppe au Vert extends over Corton hill's southeastern slope, the name referring to a "land of good exposure". This 100% pinot noirhas a deep ruby color and a complex bouquet of black cherry, raspberry, and earthy notes, with a touch of vanilla and spice. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with fine tannins and flavors of dark fruit, cherry, and hints of leather with fresh acidity and a long finish.

Le Grappin began in 2011 with a vision to seek out special sites in the over-looked, under-appreciated reaches of Burgundy and to seek out viticulteurs who tend their vines throughout the year with exceptional care and attention, to give the grapes the best opportunity to shine. This wine comes from the Beaune Premier Cru, made from 100% Pinot Noir from 40 year old vines. It has aromas of red berries, black cherry, and a hint of earth. On the palate, it is dry, medium-bodied, well-balanced, and elegant, with flavors of strawberry, raspberry, and a touch of spice with a long smooth finish.

The nose is aromatic, racy and offers a small intensity as well as a fine concentration. It reveals notes of wilted rose, lily and small notes of small wild red berries associated with fine touches of crunchy cherry, crunchy raspberry as well as fine hints of violet and Cuban pepper. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers freshness, minerality as well as a fine tension as well as a beautiful fat. In mouth this wine expresses notes of fleshy red cherry, rose, lily and small notes of pistil associated with touches of plum, blackberry as well as fine hints of zan, tobacco, minerality/graphite and an imperceptible hint of mocha.

This 50ha walled vineyard was created by the Monks of Citeaux and the soils in the areahas a large clay content, which accounts to the powerful, well-structured wines that can be rustic when young. This Grand Cru is on 1.28ha plot with 100% pinot noir. The grapes were handpicked and destemmed, then fermented in large oak vats. The wine was further aged for 20 months in French oak. The nose shows floral notes of rose petals, berries and spices. The tannins are fine and elegant with flavours of fresh fruit and spices of nutmeg and pepper.

Chassagne-Montrachet is located south of Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune and is one of Burgundy's greatest white wine appellations. It produces all appellations from the village to Grand Cru. The word Chassagne comes from either the Latin 'cassanea’, which means an oak wood, or 'cassanus’, which means oak. Until the late 19th century, the main settlement of this commune was known as Chassagne-le-Haut. However, in 1879, in common with other villages in the Côte d'Or, the village was allowed to change its name, replacing le Haut with the name of their most famous Grand Cru Montrachet. The village appellation covers just over half of Chassagne-Montrachet.

At the tasting, the wine reveals a dress of a pretty peach pink, pale and bright. Its delicate aromas bring very refreshing fruit notes such as pink grapefruit, vine peach and red berries. On the palate, the wine expresses freshness and greed through a subtle balance. The finish, elegant and refined, revives the taste buds.

A subtle but toasty note of oak mixes with red cherry on this wine's nose. The same aromatics appear on the toned palate but the cherry with its juicy freshness has the upper hand. Fine tannins provide a firm, smooth backdrop for the mouthwatering fruit and the nuanced aromas.

Ageing in oak (30% new barrels) for approximately 15-18 mounths. Racking after the malolactic fermentation. Filtration is light or even nonexistent in order to preserve the aromas. Bottling takes place at the domaine.This wine is dense and firm and will taste even better after a few years in bottle.

We are very impressed with this New Zealand Pinot Noir. Tastes more like a Burgundy than we would have guessed. Where many California Pinot Noir at this price point are either too tart or too Frankenstein'd to resemble a Pinot, this is smooth and elegant, like a Burgundy wine—nice notes of strawberry and cherry, with an earthy undercurrent and a hint of leather.

Named for the giant old-growth Douglas fir sitting right at the top of the vineyard, Old Firs is a study in terroir. No matter the length of the growing season, nor the size of crop, Old Firs always has a hallmark salinity backed with a ton of power and intensity. The furthest west of all our plantings Old Firs Block is constantly in a deluge of fog and cold Pacific winds. The site speaks clearly year after year through both winemaking and vintage. This is one for the ages. 

These are not the usual Special Bins that Penfolds releases every so often but this is a new wine that will be in regular production, although not every vintage. 

Crushed blackberry meets chocolate and vanilla, even on the nose generosity and concentration are apparent right away. The first sip is full-on: bold, concentrated tannins, fine freshness that highlights the wonderfully generous, bold, big, muscular fruit. It is that delicious and pervasive acidity that allows every nuance to show: that pure flavour of wild blueberry, that note of cocoa powder, that powdery vanilla and nutmeg-scented texture, those fine-grained but ripe tannins with both their rigour and their juiciness. This is brooding, dark, and profound and for now, it only gives us an idea of what will be possible. A wonderful new addition to the range. Seamless and balanced.

This fresh and vibrant Tinto from Cortes de Cima packs some real fruit punch. Plum compote, red liquorice and black cherry fill out its juicy palate. An easy drinker but with some flesh and personality.

Domaine Harmand -Geoffroy is a family owned winery dating back to the 19th century. The family owns 22ha of vineyards in the prestigious Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. The Domaine Harmand-Geoffroy Vieilles Vignes is the product of very old vines between 50-90 years. The result is one of the most powerful wines in the cellar that shows dark, almost somber fruit, a wine that is reticent in its youth and quite profound with seven to ten years of age. Medium-bodied, it's well-balanced with a big intense bouquet of black cherry, blueberries, wet earth, leather, violets, and a whiff of menthol.

The truly exceptional 2018 vintage of Viñedo Chadwick displays an intense ruby red colour with violet shimmer. The history of the Rebourseau family goes back to 1782, humble farmers involved in viticulture which were passed on from one generation to the next. Through the years the objective was to bring the production of each appellation to its best level, ensuring the wines reflect the most accurate version of their climates. Clos Vougeot, which covers approximately 50ha is considered one of the best Grand Cru sites in Burgundy. The Rebourseau is a wine with pronounced minerality expressing earthy notes of fern, moss and truffle, revealing velvety tones of coffee beans and black radish.

A discreet but appealing red wine, with firm tannins that already shows a great potential. The only Cote de Beaune appellation of the domaine.

The Tollot-Beaut family is a based at Chorey-Les-Beaune with vineyards located in Beaune, Savigny, Aloxe-Corton and a small holding in Corton Charlemagne. This 100% Pinot Noir has ripe black cherry, black currant, violet and mineral notes. The palate is dense, yet elegant with ripe fruit and fine tannins. A consistently underrated site from a wonderful domaine.

The Groffier family is a longstanding name in the Cotes du Nuit. Their family can be dated back to the 1800's, but it was grandfather Robert who started bottling wines at the Domaine. Two generations later, Nicholas Groffier has taken over elevating the wines to an unprecented level yet still maintaining the traditions learned from both his father and grandfather. Although their cellars are located in Morey-St.-Denis, they own no vineyards there, rather 0.8ha in other appellations, most notably Bonnes Mares, and one full hectare in the Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses, making them the largest land owner of the area. This 100% pinot noir is a muscular wine with black cherry and blackberry aromas. The palate is full-bodied with a serious tannic grip around the iron, tobacco and earthy notes. This has great ageability on it, put this one away to let it mellow.

Smooth and fruity reds are medium-bodied or full-bodied wines that often have a trace of sweetness. Soft fruitiness is a typical characteristic of these wines. You can discern notes of ripe or dried fruits and delicate spiciness in these wines. With low or medium tannins, they are also suitable for those with a sensitive mouth. Try with sweet-and-sour pork stew, Thai chicken curry or spicy sausages, such as chorizo or salami.

For six generations, Domaine Noellat has been farming their 20ha of land. With entreprenurial spirit, the family was always looking to adapt to new technologies, while respecting the traditions handed down from one generation to another. The cellar was built in 1980 while in 2007 an ultra modern winery was erected with state of the art stainless tanks and a dedicated tasting space in the cellar. Cousins Sebastien and Sophie work closely together making strategic decisions based on the nature of each harvest. Echezeaux is considered to be one of the premium wine-growing regions of Burgundy. The 0.80ha site perhaps used to be home to Gallo-Roman ruins, and the vines now grown there have an average age of 70 years. The bouquet of this 100% Pinot noir is rich and exotic with a rich texture, fleshy tannins and a touch of black pepper and spice on the finish.

Intense ruby color with brownish nuances. In the aroma, there are balsamic notes, floral fragrances and notes of wild, well-ripe red fruits. It has round tannins, firm and full of fruit, finishing with elegance and persistence.

The Premier Cru of Les Epenots is one of Pommard's best known names, referring to thethree climats of Les Grands Epenots, Les Petits Epenot and Clos des Epeneaux. These wines can be labelled under these individual names or as "Epenots". All vineyards are planted to Pinot Noir and are considered some of the best -rich and structured with spicy, earthy overtones and considerable elegance. The Parent Les Epenotsis 100% Pinot Noir and very expressive and complex with violet and red fruit aromas of cherry raspberry. The mouth is fleshy and concentrated, and the tannins are fine, velvety, and elegant.

Les Charmots is a lieu-dit in the north of the village of Pommard. The soils are clay and limestone-based and add a structure to this bolder red Burgundy. The vines have an average age of 100 years and the wines from here are among some of the best in Pommard. This 100% Pinot is expressive and charming with red berry spice notes.

Michel Mallard Le Rognet is a Grand Cru vineyard located in Ladoix-Serrigny on a small plot of 1.27 ha growing Pinot Noir vines that are between 45-55 years old. The vineyard is known for producing wines with complex flavors and aromas. The 2012 vintage of Michel Mallard Corton GC Le Rognet is generally considered to be a good year for Burgundy wines, with favorable weather conditions leading to a high-quality harvest. The wine is aged in oak barrels for approximately 18 months, which adds depth and complexity to its flavors.This 100% Pinot noir has aromas of violets, blackberries, pepper spice, and licorice. Full-bodied and rich, the palate is dense, yet velvety. This wine can age for an impressively long time.

This impressive Magnum bottle (1.5L) is home to a stunner of a Cabernet Sauvignon, produced by Master of Wine, James Cluer. Raphet Burgundy is handmade from field to bottle, with a rhythm and method that hasn't changed in more than four generations. Pinot Noir vines at the estate are on average very old, with many surpassing 100 years. Raphet wines are a Burgundy lover's Burgundy. An exceptional wine from the esteemed Los Haroldos in Mendoza, Argentina. At 600 meters above sea level, on the volcanic soils of Mount Calvarina, in the area of Lessini Durello and Soave DOC, the family has been producing wine for three generations, in an optical of synergy and harmony with nature, with the aim of interpreting and enhancing the native varieties of this area, creating a product that preserves tradition. This Soave, made with 100% garganega shows very pleasant mineral and savoury notes, which alternate with fruity-citrus hints and aromatic herbs. The Lenoble Les Aventures Blanc de Blancs is a sparkling wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in the Chouilly Grand Cru subregion of the Champagne wine region in France. It has a pale yellow color with greenish reflections and aromas of citrus, white flowers, and brioche. On the palate, it is dry, crisp, and elegant, with flavors of lemon, apple, and minerality. The wine has a fine and persistent mousse, which contributes to its creamy texture and long finish.
