Ukiyo Japanese Blossom Gin is a delicate and floral gin that captures the essence of Japan's cherry blossom season. It blends traditional gin botanicals with unique Japanese ingredients, including cherry blossom and yuzu, to create a light, refreshing spirit. The nose is fragrant with floral and citrus notes, leading to a palate that balances the juniper's crispness with the soft sweetness of cherry blossoms and the tangy zest of yuzu. The finish is clean and subtly sweet, making it perfect for a refreshing gin and tonic or a sophisticated cocktail. Ukiyo Japanese Blossom Gin offers a unique and elegant taste experience that's both exotic and familiar.

Ukiyo Japanese rice vodka is made on Okinawa island using long grain rice that is initially made into Awamori before being redistilled into a fragrant rice vodka. The palate offers notes of lavender, violets and yuzu that mix well with soda water or tonic.

Radiantly star-bright in color, this rosé exhibits a vibrant pale pink hue with glimmers of copper reflections. Its aroma is a unique fusion of classic Provençal red berries alongside evocative scents reminiscent of the holidays, including pine, cinnamon, and gingerbread cookies.

Slow-roasted corn, marzipan, cinnamon, nutmeg, and kettle corn start this experience and slowly fade to corn on the cob with butter, salt, and pepper. Then, it’s apple cider vinegar, deep-fried mushrooms, and Nutella. Fried pie dough and hints of chocolate appear before a medium finish that has a hint of toffee.

This is NOT orange bitter. Replace Campari with Undone Bitter to create a non-alc Negroni, Americano or Spritz. Notes of bittersweet blood orange, grapefruit, thyme and gentian.

The rare botanicals are hand-foraged, dried, and then slowly steeped for five weeks for a natural extraction of complex flavour and colour. The result is a gin unlike any other - a reward for the senses with its exceptionally smooth taste, signature colour and 100% natural ingredients.

Valdemar Estates Syrah opens with enticing aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and a hint of black pepper. Subtle notes of smoked meat and dried herbs add complexity to the bouquet. On the palate, the wine showcases a rich and velvety texture, with flavors of blackberry jam, plum, and blueberries. The wine is well-balanced, with integrated tannins and a touch of oak that provides structure and depth. Overall, this Syrah is a beautifully crafted wine that combines fruit-forward characteristics with elegance and complexity.

Sangiovese, aka Brunello is grown all over Italy, but most prevalent in Tuscany. Valdicava wine estate produces some of the highest quality wines in the world by showing different expressions of this opulent grape variety. Located in the valley of Montosoli, to the north of Montalcino, the winery only produces two wines: a Rosso and Brunello, with the single vineyard, Madonna del Piano only produced in the very best vintages. This 2016 has attractive aromas of cherry nib, violet, tomato leaf, walnut, and orange rind. Full bodied with dusty tannins and a long, linear finish. 

from the famed Valdicava winery, this single vineyard wine is only produced in the most excellent vintages. 2007 was a stellar year with perfect conditions for ripening of the Sangiovese grape. Beautifully knit together, this wine has deep, concentrated notes of blueberries and blackberries, leather, and tobacco. Deeply textured, yet with smooth tannins, and layers and layers of flavour. This will undoubtedly just get better in the bottle. If drinking now, decant or hold until 2030-2035.

This is a beautiful wooden box with shimmery blue lettering that holds 3 different vintages - 2 each of 2008, 2011 and 2018. 

Valenciso (founded in 1998) may be young in years, but founders Luis Valentin and Carmen Enciso (who gave their surnames to the bodega) were already long in experience when they began. They had worked together for 28 years by the time they left Bodegas Palacio to start their own business. Valenciso seeks to make classically structured, subtle and elegantly fine wines using 100% Tempranillo grapes from low yielding old vines in the Rioja Alta. Winemaker Alicia Eyaralar uses exclusively French barriques, a third being new each year, to produce this terrific wine in very small quantities. In this box, there are two bottles each of 2008, 2011 and 2018, all scoring very high. Cherry deep colour, spicy nose, intense. There are some notes of leather, licorice and fountain pen ink, over a core of ripe berry fruit, with some spicy notes from the oak and a faint animal character. The palate is medium-bodied with some dusty, slightly rustic tannins and a dry finish.

Valentin Leflaive Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut is a refined and elegant Champagne, showcasing the purity and finesse of Chardonnay grapes. As an extra brut, it has a very low dosage, highlighting the crisp, natural acidity and the clean, mineral-driven character of the wine. It typically presents a delicate mousse with a pale golden hue, offering aromas of green apple, citrus, and white flowers, accompanied by subtle notes of almond and brioche from its aging on lees. On the palate, it's precise and vibrant, with a refreshing acidity and flavors of lemon, pear, and a hint of saline minerality, leading to a long, clean finish. This Champagne is a testament to the meticulous winemaking approach of Valentin Leflaive, making it a perfect choice for celebrations or pairing with delicate seafood dishes, showcasing its versatility and sophistication.

One of the original producers that grows Trebbiano Abruzzese, one of the few quality grapes of the Trebbiano group. There is not much of this exported and even fewer bottles of the Montepulciano. Francesco Valentini and his son are the only humans allowed in the cellar as Francesco never wants to introduce foreign microbes or yeasts to interfere with the ageing of the wine. These are some of the most ageable white wines in the world and in fact, could be considered “unicorns” as they are hard to find here in Canada.  Truly collectible.

Along with the 2018 already in house, the 2019 has since arrived and now is the time to pick up a mini vertical of these wines. Highly sought after and with a cult following, these wines are rare. This is a complex and opulent wine, which has become famous for its incredible longevity. The nose is full of ripe yellow fruits and white flowers. The palate is rich, warm and well balanced with beautiful acidity and sapidity.

The red wine "Prugnolo" Valtellina Superiore from Cantina Rainoldi is named after the "Prunus Spinosa," a decorative shrub that grows near the vineyards and whose blue berries ripen in autumn, coinciding with the harvest period. Made from the noble Nebbiolo grape, "Prugnolo" is a structured and full-bodied wine, crafted from carefully selected grapes from the terraces of Valtellina Superiore. It undergoes a pre-fermentation cryo-maceration lasting about 60 hours, followed by controlled-temperature maceration with continuous pumpover. The wine then matures for approximately twelve months in small oak barrels previously used for Sfursat Fruttaio Ca' Rizzieri. Afterward, it is blended in stainless steel tanks and aged in bottle for at least 9 months before being released.

Label story: "As the name suggests, Lukas had to undergo two big knee surgeries in our first harvest season as is shown by the leg in a brace on the label and the silhouette of the man plotting his next move. With the help of great friends and family it all came together in the end and this wine is a celebration of hard times overcome. In the same way one wishes a performer to “break a leg”, the name celebrates all the hard work we put in to achieve our goals. The protea on the stamp emphasises our South African heritage while the tortoise symbolises the speed at which Lukas was able to work during that first harvest. The donkey is a tongue-in-cheek reminder of how stubborn Lukas was in not compromising on doing any of the work himself despite not being as mobile as he would have liked."

Label story: "When I was a youngster growing up in Rawsonville I would hike up the mountain with a few friends to a swimming spot that we discovered, to reach this pool where we had to jump off a 5m cliff. When it was my turn to jump, hesitation would creep in and taking that leap seemed impossible. With my friends cheering me on and reminding me that I can do it, I would take a deep breath and jump. Those few seconds in the air are indescribable! Shouting GERONIMO! at the top of your lungs. This wine reminds us of that leap we took starting this big venture of ours, with friends cheering and helping us, and making us realise that we can do it. This is referenced by the leaping boy in the top left hand corner. The label also shows a piece of our South African heritage in the form of the postage stamp depicting the South African national fish, the Galjoen."

Delight yourself with a smooth rose wine from Valul lui Traian wine region of Moldova. Distinguished by an elegant color and a delicate aroma of berries. On the palate there are notes of overripe strawberries.

Nose: Aromatic herbs, citrus zest, and hints of floral notes.
Taste: Bitter orange peel, gentian root, and a touch of herbal bitterness.
Palate: Intense and complex, with a balanced bitterness and a long, lingering finish.

From the iconic Vega Sicilia brand, the Pintia is from Toro where tempranillo is called Tinto de Toro. These wines boast intense color and depth, presenting a cherry red hue with cardinal edges. The nose is broad, clean, expressive, and elegant, featuring great fruity intensity wrapped in subtle, high-quality wood. On the palate, it offers a robust structure, good tannic presence, and a friendly, fresh, and persistent finish with floral hints in the retro nasal.

Valbuena is the purest expression of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) from Vega Sicilia, where Tinto Fino dominates the blend, complemented by Merlot, the proportion of which varies depending on the vintage. The Tempranillo comes from plots on gentle concave slopes, with soils rich in eroded material and deep calcic horizons. Valbuena showcases the greatness of this terroir, with each vintage uniquely influenced by the year's weather, providing an authentic and consistent representation of the land. Its production process remains unchanged, allowing the natural variations of each harvest to shine through.

Valbuena is the pure expression of a red at Vega Sicilia, with an ageing of five years from barrel to
bottle, which gives it its name, Valbuena 5º (5th year). 225-litre French and American oak barrels,
both new and used, 8,500-litre vats are used in a long and complex process for perhaps, the wine
which has evolved the most over the last few years.
Valbuena 5º presents its splendor in each vintage and a direct view of the greatness of its soil,
where the weather conditions each year make a clear distinction on the vintage.

Intense dark core and a ruby rim. Aromatic and floral nose with rose petal, violet, sweet red fruit and fresh grape aromas. Medium weight on the palate, youthful still with a slight tannic bite, fresh grape and red berry notes with white pepper, and dried herb notes, fine length, and balance, should just need another few years of ageing.
