Like many South African estates, they are owned by Italians, and Morgenster is no exception! Purchased in 1992 by Giulio Bertrand, this founder fell in love with this 300 year old estate. Today it is run by mother and daughter team of Federica and Vittoria. The Reserve is the crown jewel of blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It has classic aromas of dark berries, black plums and cassis. Pure harmony as these classic Bordeaux varieties come together to create this beautiful, well-structured wine.

The Mortlach 16 Year Old Distiller's Dram is a robust, 43.4% ABV Speyside single malt, matured exclusively in Sherry casks to complement the distillery’s famously "beasty," savory, and complex spirit. It is highly regarded for its deep, rich profile, offering notes of stewed fruits, dark berries, and earthy spice, with a creamy yet leathery texture.

A very special Mortlach, released as part of the Diageo Special Releases 2022. This takes a left turn compared to most other Mortlach whiskies, which are traditionally aged in sherry casks, and looks at other wines. It was finished in red-muscat and tawny-port casks, and also has a little bit of virgin-oak-finished whisky in the mix. The result is big, rich and spicy, with layers of dark red fruit flavour.

Mortlach, famed for its rare sweet yet savoury taste among Speyside malts, presents this unique expression finished in ex-Kanosuke Japanese Whisky White Oak casks and ex-pinot noir French Oak casks. Released to commemorate the 1992 establishment of the Moutai Group Technology Development Company, it is celebrated for its rich, mellow sauce aroma, smooth profile, and award-winning bottle design.

Moutai Chun 1998 is a premium, 53% ABV baijiu produced in China's Guizhou Province by the renowned Kweichow Moutai distillery. It was created to commemorate the launch of the Moutai Chun brand. This sauce-aroma spirit is prized for its mellow, velvety texture and complex, sweet-savoury flavor profile.

Moutai Prince Chiew - Gold is a luxury Chinese Baijiu (a type of distilled liquor) produced by the Moutai Distillery, which is located in the town of Maotai in Guizhou Province, China. It is considered one of the highest quality Baijiu products in the world and is often referred to as the "king of Baijiu".It is made using traditional fermentation and distillation methods, using only high-quality sorghum as the main ingredient. The production process is highly controlled and takes several years to complete, with the liquor being aged in ceramic jars and underground cellars. One of the distinguishing features of Moutai Prince Chiew - Gold is its smooth and complex flavor profile. It has a rich aroma with notes of fruit, grain, and flowers, followed by a velvety and full-bodied taste that is both sweet and slightly spicy. The finish is long and lingering, leaving a pleasant aftertaste.

The 2016 Barbaresco Manzola is a brilliant wine. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries, mint, chalk and white pepper all pulse through the 2016. A Barbaresco of energy and tension, the 2016 is a bit nervous in feel, and yet it also has terrific depth, not to mention exceptional balance. The 2016 is one of the finest Manzolas I can remember tasting. In this range, the Manzola is distinguished by its saline minerality and drive.

Cinsault, a historic yet underappreciated grape variety in South Africa, showcases its unique charm in this wine. Departing from the weightier profiles of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, Cinsault offers a lighter, fresher style bursting with vibrant berry flavors. Soft, powdery tannins add to the wine's appeal, balancing the savoury earthiness and leading to a finish marked by lingering spice and unexpected complexity. This wine is a testament to the diversity and potential of South African winemaking.

Neil Ellis, one of our favourite South African producers has created this Sauvignon Blanc to rival many from Pouilly-Fume in the Loire valley. Using wild yeasts and creating only a few barrels, the name Amica is derived from the Latin Amicus which can be described as a gathering of friends, sharing good food and wine around the table. Barrel fermented for complexity this Sauvignon Blanc is a thing of beauty and can most certainly be aged for several years. An outstanding wine.

Neil Ellis is considered to be one of the most influencial pioneers of modern day winemaking in South Africa. The Syrah grapes from the Groenekloof vineyard were handpicked from low yielding bush vines. They produce a medium bodied wine with vibrant colours. The aroma is full of enticing dark fruit with contributing spicy undertones. There are lingering savoury notes in the long finish, accentuated by fine, elegant tannins. For the price, this is an excellent Syrah.

Piekenierskloof's mountain vineyards, located near the Cederberg Wilderness Area, are renowned for producing exceptional Grenache from dry land bush vines. Neil discovered the oldest Grenache vineyard in the country that each year yields a limited amount of grapes. The vineyard produced consistently award winning Grenache since 2007. The alcoholic fermentation is initiated in stainless steel tank with the malolactic fermentation being completed in French oak barrels. The wine is aged for 14 months in a combination of new, 2nd and 3rd passage larger French oak barrels.The wine has inviting red berry and creamy strawberry flavours, complemented by a creamy texture and silky tannins. The oldest of these vines, planted in 1966 on their own roots, remain un-grafted and disease-free, contributing to the wine's elegance, finesse, and sweet fruit character. The region's extreme temperature variations, with hot days and cold nights, along with its Table Mountain sandstone and shale soils, further enhance the distinctiveness of the Grenache from this area. Light in colour, and although high(er) in alcohol, the wine is well-balanced. Put a slight chill on it for optimal flavour. Another great Neil Ellis wine.

These bush vines are low yielding vineyards, delivering a refreshing, well-structured wine with bright, tropical aromatics. The palate is elegant with delicately detailed tropical fruits and subtle herbacious undertones. A lively acidity and a refined minerality add to the complexity of the wine. A well made Sauvignon Blanc.

Nelson Bros Classic Bourbon Whiskey is described as having a complex and flavorful profile with notes of spice cake, cherry, milk chocolate, vanilla, and baked apple on the nose. On the palate, it offers flavors of banana bread, cocoa, cherry, and dried pineapple. The finish features black peppercorn, spearmint, lemon peel, and a hint of sweet tobacco. Additionally, the whiskey is described as having a silky body, with notes of toffee and peach pie, key lime, and chocolate-covered cherries, and a subtle hint of oak.

The process for Nelson Brothers Reserve begins with selecting the finest aged bourbon barrels from the Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery inventory, creating the perfect foundation of flavor and fragrance. These exceptional barrels are expertly batched into a high-proof blend rich with rye, and infused with notes of dark cherry, caramel, and spice. The result is a premium, balanced bourbon that is sure to astonish and delight anyone who has the pleasure of tasting it.

Nelson Brothers Rye Whiskey is a bold yet approachable American straight rye whiskey crafted in Nashville, Tennessee. Aromas of clove, honeysuckle, and anise lead into a smooth, spicy palate layered with nutmeg, dried apricot, and sweet mint. A generous proportion of corn in the mash bill adds roundness and subtle sweetness, balancing the rye’s characteristic peppery spice. The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of cinnamon, leather, and cedar. Rich, balanced, and versatile, it is excellent enjoyed neat, over ice, or in classic whiskey cocktails.

Critic tasting note: "This blend of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc is ripe and yeasty. It has perfumed fruit, although the fruit is ensconced in a bitter, nutty character. The acidity is intense, giving freshness at the end."

This white wine offers a unique combination of aromas and flavors. On the nose, you'll detect nutty and herbaceous-planty notes, along with a subtle hint of tobacco and yellow fruity aromas. There's also a touch of dark berries and floral traces adding to its complexity. On the palate, you'll experience a pleasant sweetness of fruit with nutty and slightly smoky undertones. Herbal and tobacco notes intermingle, while a faint taste of passion fruit emerges. The tannins are somewhat drying, and there's a moderate presence of wood spice and nutty flavors. The drink leaves a lasting impression with good persistence, and its finish is sweetish yet slightly drying. Overall, it presents an intriguing and multifaceted tasting experience.

In order to craft a harmonious dry Gewürztraminer it requires skill and vision. Christian succeeded with his dry interpretation of this very eccentric and aromatic grape variety. A beautiful nose of rose petals, ripe yellow fruit, and pear with elegance and smooth acidity. A dry Gewürztraminer that is a testament to the skill of the grower. It delivers all the exotic notes that we associate with this grape variety while inviting us to enjoy another glass with its clean and refreshing finish. Remarkable.

New Amsterdam Pink Whitney Vodka is a playful, pink lemonade-flavored vodka. It has a light pink color and a smooth, refreshing taste with a hint of sweetness and citrus. From the oldest winemaking family in Argentina, Nicolas Catena was a pioneer for high-altitude wine growing. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec is an excellent example of ageable Argentinian wine. Deep, concentrated, bramble and blackcurrant fruit dominate.

20% whole cluster and 80% whole berry fruit is hand-loaded into 225-500 liter new French oak barrels for a 100% barrel fermentation for a period of 28 days, allowing seamless oak integration. The fermentation temperature is kept low, extracting intense aromas, and the cap management is done by hand to ensure soft, gentle flavors and tannin extraction. Wild yeasts. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in barrel leaves considerable lees and sediment. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.

Nikka Coffey Malt is a rich, fruity, and spicy Japanese whisky made from 100% malted barley but distilled in a Coffey still (continuous still) rather than pot stills, giving it unique depth, a silky texture, and characteristics of both grain and malt whiskies, with notes of honey, caramel, red apple, vanilla, oak, tobacco, and chocolate, finishing creamy and lingering. It's known for its luscious mouthfeel and complex, balanced profile, perfect neat or with a drop of water.
