Low yields and great clonal pedigree, combined with meticulous farming within a variety of cooler appellations, are essential to producing our Cabernet Sauvignon. We believe it is this blend of concentrated ripe fruit that results in our wine’s unique character, complexity, depth and balance.

In 1720, Maison Champy became the oldest wine company in Burgundy. By the arly 1900's, Champy has established itself as a premier wine company and had acquired more land in the Beaune, specifically in Savigny and Clos Vougeot. Pale yellow color with golden reflections. With a good intensity, the rich bouquet opens on ripe fruits (peach, apricot), on floral notes, and on notes of bread and freshly baked croissants. An elegant nose on a subtly woody base. On the palate, a good richness and smoothness with a long finish, opulent and round.

Contention as one of the top vintages produced here, the wine is strong on its floral characteristics. Once past the opening bouquet of white flowers and dried roses, you find plums, black cherries, black raspberries, mint and cigar wrapper nuances. The palate provides a lush, opulent, vibrant, energetic backdrop for its wealth of deep red fruits and oceanic influences. The finish has a touch of salty chalk that adds complexity to its wealth of silky, ripe, red fruits.

Picture walking into a flower show with a basket of fresh berries and a lit Cuban cigar, and while that is not quite PC, it is the aromatic profile here. The wine is fresh, bright, vibrant, lifted, and floral on the palate. The wine is elevated, refined, soft, and silky, with a refreshing, silky edge to the fruits in the finish. The wine is pure elegance. There is nothing between you and the fruits. There is intensity, length, and a striking sense of purity. The wine lingers seamlessly for 60 seconds or longer..

The 2020 Pichon-Longueville Baron is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot aging for an estimated 18 months in French oak barrels, 70% new. The production of the grand vin represents 48% of the harvest this year. Opaque purple-black in colour, it comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant notions of blackberry pie, preserved plums and crème de cassis, plus suggestions of Chinese five spice, chocolate mint, graphite and cedar chest with a touch of violets. The medium-bodied palate is built like a brick house, featuring firm, ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness to support the taut, muscular black fruits, finishing long and spicy.

Chocolate shavings and smoked coffee bean on the nose, it's a vintage where you can't get away from the tannins, but here they have sinew and juice, like the best translation of the tannins in the year. This has a real purity of fruit (very low SO2 addition at Palmer) and the gourmet touch you want in Alter Ego. 45% of overall production. 3.73pH. Survived mildew better than in 2018 because of my experience in dealing with the conditions. August 15 to 29 for the harvest.

This wine is made exclusively from 100% Gaglioppo grapes, showcasing the unique and distinctive qualities of this variety.

This Brut made as a Crémant highlights the typical freshness and fruity aromas of the varietal. Fresh, refreshing and fun. The vineyards lie in one of the sunniest spots resulting in a delicate salmon color with aromas of rose petals, cranberries with a twist of hazelnuts. Flavours of crushed strawberry, raspberry and apples.

Exhibiting pure elegance, Potazzine Rosso di Montalcino unfurls gradually, initially presenting notes of red plum and dusty rose. With some gentle coaxing, it reveals violet florals, cedar, and crushed stone aromas that come to the forefront. The palate is captivated by a dynamic blend of succulent wild berries and contrasting saline mineral undertones, all complemented by a refreshing acidity. A lingering interplay of citrus and cranberry adds a delightful tension, leaving a pleasant pinch on the cheeks and enticing the taste buds for more, while gentle fine tannins slowly emerge, providing a delicate coating. This wine is truly stunning, but it is advisable to decant it or cellar it for the next five to eight years to fully appreciate its beauty.

A beautiful pink aperitif wine from a winery that was started in Italy's Friuli region in 1970. With notes of raspberries, redcurrants and flowers, it is a perfect pairing for a charcuterie platter, scallops or prawns. Made from the Pinot Noir grape. Serve chilled.

This unique eau-de-vie is made from distilled cider from grapes grown on the estate at Domaine Johanna Cecillon. Before distillation, the ciders are aged on the lees in both barrel and tank for more than a year. The blend before distillation is both fruity and tannic ciders. The nose is powerful with spicy apples and pears with a beautiful roundness and freshness onthe palate.

For over 50 years, the Bisci family has been making Verdicchio in the district of Matelica. Verdicchio, one of Italy's most ageable white grapes shows two expressions: rounder and richer in Jesi, but more austere, higher acidity and mineral in Matelica due higher elevation and mountain terroir. The single vineyard of Vegneto Foglia has 45 year old vines with a south facing exposure. The wine is complex with yellow fruits and chlorophyll notes. The palate is structured and textured, built for ageing.

Casa Raia has 4.5ha of vineyards, ranging from 44 years old to new. Certified organic, the phases of the moon are followed to the letter to create biodiversity. All harvesting is done by hand and clusters are inspected carefully before destemmed. The Bevilo is a blend of mostly Sangiovese with small percentages of Canaiolo, Cabernet Franc and Merlot all co-fermented. Beautifully balanced with red cherry, raspberry, and hints of earth and savoury balsamic, it's smooth tannins finish easy and long. A rare find.

It began with rather normal temperatures and precipitation, promoting budbreak that was in line with the historical average of the region. Spring, and in particular the month of May, was characterized by frequent rainfall and temperatures slightly below average. The summer months were generally hot and dry, without noticeable spikes, providing optimal ripening conditions for the Merlot, Cabernet & Sangiovese grapes that comprise this wine. A windy and cooler September insured healthy & phenolically mature clusters were obtained during harvest. Tasting Notes Intensely red in colour with purple reflections, this wine contains aromas of forest berries, sweet spice and vanilla bean. Round and harmonious on the palate, this wine has sweet tannins and a delicate finish.

Domaine Reine Juliette is located in the heart of Languedoc, less than 10km from the Mediterranean Sea. The sixth generation runs the winery now and is named for the road the domaine is built on. The wine is a blend of Grenache and Syrah, showing bright strawberry, pomegranate and watermelon notes with excellent acidity and focus. Great with summer salads and even pizza!

Kaleden, BC, situated on the bench overlooking Skaha lake is home to the Black Market winery. Here they craft small batch wines using grape varieties that grow well in the Okanagan. This Rose is made with 100% Syrah and has a vibrant nose aromas of crabapple, watermelon, wild strawberries, and cherries. On the palate, it's dry with crisp acidity and dominated by rich flavours of wild red berries, rhubarb and lime zest.

Dzama Rhum Cuvee Blanc Prestige is a premium white rum that is produced in Madagascar. It is made from the finest sugarcane juice that is fermented and distilled using traditional methods. The rum is then aged in oak barrels for several years, which gives it a smooth and complex flavor profile. The aroma is rich and fruity, with notes of vanilla, caramel, and tropical fruits. Intense purple colour, hints in the scent of red fruit and spices one of which, black pepper, stands out. In the mouth it is pleasant tasting, mineral, nervous with intense and characteristic tannins.

The Boscaini family of MASI fame rediscovered the rare Oseleta grape, grown in the area of Valpolicella as a perfect grape to blend with the other Amarone grapes. With its extra pip and high skin to juice ratio, it provides a tannic edge to the blend. Unique as a monovarietal, MASI is the only winery to have a 100% Oseleta. The Osar is deep red in colour, clean and complex with hints of blueberries, blackberries and
fresh-cut greenery. The extreme tannins are well balanced with the acidity and alcohol.

La Palazzetta Visconti is located on the south-east side of Montalcino, farming 20 ha organically. Mild winters, hot summers and humid springs and autumns help to create bright coloured, fragrant wines with juicy acidity. This little Rosso is the perfect quaffer with notes of violet, cherry, and plum. The tannins are ripe and soft, leading into a long finish.

Nestled between Priorat and Monsant, the Cellar de Capcanes offers quality Catalan winemaking. Originally established as a co-operative in the 1930s when five families got together to vinify all the wine of this Priorat-area village, the Celler de Capcanes drew the attention of the wine world in the early nineties when they started to produce premium Kosher wines for the Jewish community in Barcelona. Made from a blend of tempranillo, garnacha, merlot, syrah and carignan, it's an easy drinking summer quaffer- an "all purpose" red.

Three generations of winemaking in the Valdobbiadene hills, they farm organically and sustainably. "Particella" refers to Parcel and allows the family to showcase fruit from different "rive", obtained from the steepest and most suitable vineyards with grapes from a single municipality, to enhance the characteristics and showcase the terroir. Elegant perlage with a creamy foam, yet high acidity and minerality. Ripe white peaches with mineral and floral notes. Fascinating!

Fritz Kupelwieser's Vernatsch/Schiava is a red wine with a ruby color and a bouquet of wild berries and violets. On the palate, it is light and fresh, with balanced acidity and soft tannins, making it a perfect pairing for roasted meats, pasta dishes, and aged cheeses. This wine is made from 100% Vernatsch/Schiava grapes grown in the Südtirol subregion of Alto Adige, where the unique microclimate and soil create ideal conditions for growing this variety. The vintage is a testament to the quality of this grape and the winemaker's skill in crafting a beautiful wine.

The Contra Soarda Gaggion Marzemino Nero is a delicious red wine from the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region of Italy. Made entirely from the Marzemino Nero grape variety, it boasts a beautiful ruby color and offers aromas of cherry, blackberry, and spices on the nose. On the palate, it is dry, medium-bodied, and well-structured, with flavors of dark fruit, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla. The tannins are firm but well-integrated, leading to a long and satisfying finish.

Caparzo Rosso di Montalcino is a red wine produced by Caparzo winery located in Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy. The wine is made using 100% Sangiovese grapes, which are grown in the vineyards surrounding the winery. The wine is aged for a short period in oak barrels to enhance its complexity and depth of flavor. On the nose, the wine exhibits aromas of red berries, violets, and hints of spice. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a good balance of acidity and tannins, and flavors of cherry, blackberry, and earthy undertones. This wine is a great pairing with grilled meats, pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces, and mature cheeses.

Located in Chiaramonte, Sicily where this land is known for growing Nero D’Avola, the grape, also known as Calabrese has found its natural home here on this island. What makes Gulfi special is regional area of Pachino, the coastal, sandy terroir where Nero d’Avola has adapted very well. Only steps from the Mediterranean Sea, these vineyards thrive in the heat and grow grapes that produce world-class wines. The Catania family will tell you this is a “grand cru” and with several single vineyard sites within Pachino, Nero d’Avola can show great nuances.  Ageable and collectible, these are worth having in any wine cellar.

Gulfi is a family-owned winery located in southern Sicily, with grand cru vineyards located in Pachino: 100% Nero d’Avola that grows in sandy soil close to the sea and has adapted to the hot climate. Here, the resulting wines are complex and elegant, and the benchmark for what these wines should taste like. Undoubtedly, one of the world’s greatest wine estates and producers of Nero d’Avola. Although one might think the wines taste the same, each single vineyard or ‘cru’ showcases the great terroir of Pachino and the subtleties of each area.

Baronj has mostly limestone soils that brings out the power and minerality of the wine. Likely the most “easy drinking” of the cru wines, it has a nose of raspberry, blood orange and violet with a vibrant palate of dried cherries, plums, and licorice.

Danimi Votiva Campi Taurasini DOC is a red wine produced by Danimi winery in the Campania region of Italy. A Votiva is an offering to the gods. The figurine depicted on the bottles of Votiva are inspired by similar objects found in the heart of Irpinia where the ancients worshipped the Goddess Mefite and made offerings to appease her. This is the 'cru' line that represents the strength of the Irpinian territory and identity. Made from 100% Aglianico, the wine is a complex mix of floral and fruity notes such as violets and wild red berries along with spicy notes that recall scent of tobacco and leather. The mouthfeel is intense and concentrated, full-bodied with velvety tannins. 

Greco Nero hails from Calabria, the "toe" of Italy's boot and is another red wine for Alberta drinkers! Full-bodied, thick and rich, if you left this on your counter for 4 days, it would still drink like a boss! Full of blackberry, dried plums, floral, roasted coffee, leather and spice, it's complex!

Teroldego is the most important red grape of Trentino in Northern Italy. Dark coloured and concentrated, this is a fruity wine, yet softly tannic and Albertans would love it! Try this as an alternative to Cabernet Sauvignon.

Colpetrone's Sacer Montefalco Sagrantino is a rich and intense wine that embodies the unique character of Sagrantino grapes grown in the Montefalco area of Umbria, Italy. It has a deep ruby color and aromas of dark fruit, blackberry, and plum, complemented by hints of leather, tobacco, and spices. Arpepe Sassella Stella Retica  is a red wine with a ruby red color. It has a complex aroma with notes of red fruit, such as cherries and raspberries, and hints of spices, such as cloves and cinnamon. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a good structure and balance, and firm tannins. The wine has flavors of red fruit, with a hint of earthiness, and a long and persistent finish. Barbacan Sforzato 2018 is a red wine from the Valtellina subregion of Lombardy, Italy. Made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes (known locally as Chiavennasca), the wine undergoes a unique drying process for several months prior to fermentation, resulting in a concentrated and complex flavor profile. The Colpetrone Antica Chiusina Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a full-bodied red wine that offers intense aromas of dark fruit, leather, and spice.
