“Given the young average age of this estate's vineyards, its well-draining soils and the extreme vintage, I was a little apprehensive; but the technical team evidently took the conditions in their stride, harvesting the east-facing side of the vines (which sees the hottest afternoon sun) four days earlier. The resulting 2022 L'Evangile is beautiful, offering up aromas of raspberries, vine smoke, black truffles, violets and gravely soil. Medium to full-bodied, supple and velvety, it's seamless and polished, with a bright core of fruit and powdery tannins that temper 2022's inherent sweetness of fruit to sophisticated effect. At this early stage, it appears that the estate's progress with regards to élevage continues too, as Evangile's creamy oak signature is much released, allowing the fruit—and this superb terroir—to take center stage. It's a blend of 82% Merlot, 17.5% Cabernet Franc and 0.5% Cabernet Sauvignon.”

Blue Mountain Brut Rosé (Okanagan Valley, BC) is a highly-regarded Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling wine (roughly 65-70% Pinot Noir, 30-35% Chardonnay) known for its pale salmon color, creamy texture, and 30 months of sur-lie aging. Domaine de la Vougeraie Gevrey-Chambertin is a high-quality Pinot Noir from Burgundy, known for its elegant, structured, and complex profile, typically showing red/black berry notes, spice, and fine tannins. The wine is produced using organic/biodynamic practices, aged in Cîteaux oak barrels (approx. 30-36% new), and showcases powerful, velvety textures.

The Paring Chardonnay is a vibrant, fruit-forward California Chardonnay known for balancing rich tropical/citrus notes (pineapple, lemon, peach) with minerality (crushed rocks, sea salt) and refreshing acidity, featuring aromas of honey, vanilla, toasted nuts, and spice, offering a complex yet accessible experience with a clean, bright finish. It's often described as rich yet focused, with a silky texture and good value for its quality.

A "Spotlight Viognier," often from producers like Play Estate, is a vibrant, aromatic white wine known for floral notes (honeysuckle, rose), stone fruits (peach, apricot, nectarine), tropical hints, and a full, sometimes creamy body with low acidity, balancing rich flavors with a fresh palate, excellent with spicy Asian, creamy chicken, or pork dishes. 

The Vega Sicilia Unico is a powerful yet elegant Spanish red from Ribera del Duero, a blend of 94% Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, known for its balance, complexity, and remarkable aging potential, offering notes of dark fruit, spice, florals, licorice, cedar, and a fresh, chalky finish after its extensive 10-year aging in oak and bottle.

Caymus California Cabernet Sauvignon (3L) offers a rich, fruit-forward experience with deep flavors of blackberry, cassis, dark cherry, and plum, complemented by notes of cocoa, vanilla, mocha, and toasted oak, all wrapped in a plush, velvety texture with smooth tannins, making it approachable in youth but capable of aging, showcasing the Wagner family's signature bold, polished style across California's diverse terroirs.

Dow's 1994 Vintage Port is a powerful, complex, deep ruby-purple port, praised as one of the finest of its era, offering rich aromas of dark berries, mocha, spice, and flowers with notes of mint/eucalyptus, balanced by Dow's signature drier finish, intense fruit, firm tannins, and immense structure, making it delicious now but built for decades of aging.

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Fortuna Terrae is a prestigious, high-altitude Argentine Malbec from deep, loamy soils in Mendoza, known for its intense floral (violet, hibiscus) and dark fruit (blackberry, cherry) aromas, layered with spice, herbs, and mineral notes, offering a rich, mineral-driven, powerful yet ethereal palate with fine tannins and long finish, aged in foudres/concrete for purity, pairing beautifully with grilled meats.

Salentein Reserva Malbec is a vibrant, fruity Argentine red known for its intense purplish-red color, complex aromas of red fruits (plums, cherries) and floral notes (violets, roses) with hints of spice, chocolate, or tobacco, and a balanced, juicy palate with supple tannins, good structure, and a long, fresh finish, making it ideal for grilled meats and aged cheeses.

The Mascot is a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon made from the younger vines of Harlan Estate, BOND, and Promontory vineyards. It offers a youthful glimpse into the future of its prestigious parent estates, starting as a family wine before receiving its own identity. Descriptions often highlight dark fruit aromas, a rich and complex palate with firm tannins and balanced acidity, and a long, elegant finish.

St. Romedius Red Table Wine is a light-bodied, bright, and versatile red blend from Lodi, California, featuring Sangiovese, Teroldego, and a hint of dry Muscat Canelli. It has a light magenta color and notes of raspberry, watermelon, and blueberry on the nose, with a soft and juicy palate and bright acidity. This sustainable, minimal-intervention wine is described as a "dangerously refreshing thirst quencher" that pairs well with casual foods like pizza, burgers, and tacos.

Querciabella Mongrana DOC Maremma is a vibrant, intense red wine from Tuscany that's certified organic and vegan. It's a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, featuring aromas of ripe fruit like morello cherry and blackberry, with notes of kirsch and herbs, and an intense ruby-red color. Taylor Fladgate 40 Year Old Tawny Port is a rare, concentrated aged Port with an intense olive-gold color and a voluptuous, viscous texture. It features a powerful bouquet and palate of rich caramel, butterscotch, roasted coffee, and a variety of nuts, with notes of dried fruit like dates and figs, and a lingering, mellow finish. Éphémère de Grenet (Malbec) is a single-varietal Malbec wine produced by Domaine Chibaou in Bordeaux, France. 75% Merlot & 25% Cabernet Franc from the western edge of the Pomerol plateau outside of Libourne. Flashing a deep ruby robe, the nose is redolent of tobacco, forest floor, cassis, blackberry and black plum with allspice and clove. Structured yet supple with velvety tannins, this dances lightly on its feet with a surprising freshness for such a ripe vintage. An all-around class act, this shows why aged Pomerol is one of the great wines of Bordeaux.

Pingus is a renowned red wine from Ribera del Duero, Spain, known for its high quality and cult status. It's made from 100% Tempranillo grapes and is produced by Dominio de Pingus, a small winery established in 1995 by Peter Sisseck. Pingus is considered one of the most sought-after wines in the world and has received top ratings from critics. The winery also produces a second label, Flor de Pingus, as well as a younger wine called PSI.

This has the typical structure of a Saint-Estèphe, fleshed out with ripe black fruits. There is fine juicy acidity and rich tannins. An impressive opulence gives this wine good potential.

The nose on this fresh Valpolicella is driven by pretty and upfront fresh floral notes followed by zippy red-berry fruit notes and hints of tobacco. The palate is lifted with fresh cherries, mixed herbs and underbrush—all well balanced—giving the wine an easiness about it yet a complexity that keeps you coming back.

Always one of the top performers in Margaux, this dense and concentrated wine has a bold, ripe character from the plum and berry fruits. It has the weight to develop. Drink from 2020.

Inspired by the finest wines of Germany and crafted by the acclaimed Armin Diel, proprietor of the renowned Schlossgut Diel, this wine reflects exceptional craftsmanship. The 2014 Columbia Valley growing season was the warmest on record, prompting growers to take extra care in the vineyards to ensure the Riesling grapes arrived at the winery full of fresh, vibrant character. Each canopy interior was hand-pruned and carefully trimmed to protect the clusters from excessive sun exposure while promoting uniform ripening. The warm fall temperatures accelerated ripening, while the Columbia Valley's signature cool autumn evenings preserved the grapes’ natural acidity.

Yjar is a blend of old vines of Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha, Granegro, and Rojal, all indigenous to the region. Selected from the property’s oldest and finest plots, the wine is vinified and aged in French oak barriques for 30 months. Despite Rioja’s tumultuous history, Telmo Rodríguez is demonstrating the region’s ability to produce world-class wines, and Yjar is a testament to his success in doing so.

Made with the same grapes and care that go into the Leitz award-winning “regular” Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, the wines are de-alcoholised through a low temperature vaccuum distillation process to ensure alcohol is removed without removing the all important natural aromas and remarkable properties of the terroir. Made with Merlot, Portugieser and Pinot Noir, the wine is clean and fresh with notes of pale strawberries, raspberry and citrus; slight hints of fresh grapefruit and an underlying mineral base. The finish is dry and relatively long.

Château de Montfrin has been in Jean-René de Fleurieu’s family since 1925 when his grandfather purchased the château and the vineyards. Jean-René took over in 2004 and today is supported by his daughter Aurore and Estate Manager Benjamin Beguin in the operation of the winery and its 100 hectares of organically farmed vineyards. In addition to vineyards, the estate also has olive groves. Looking after the land is a love affair for Jean-René and Benjamin. This is where they grew up, established roots and feel at home. The vineyards are spread out and are located in four different appellations: Pont du Gard, Costières de Nîmes, Côtes du Rhône, and Côtes du Rhône Villages. The vines grow in hallowed farmland made up of contrasting terrain, from the vast silty soils of the plains along the majestic Rhône to the sunny hillside of its banks and the stony plateaus of its now abandoned riverbeds.

This wine is a harmonious blend of perfectly ripened Grenache Blanc and Rousanne grapes grown on the pebbly terrain that radiates the warmth that builds up during the day. Well integrated acidity and slight undertones of oak create a very versatile and easy to enjoy wine for a multitude of occasions.

Neil Ellis, one of our favourite South African producers has created this Sauvignon Blanc to rival many from Pouilly-Fume in the Loire valley. Using wild yeasts and creating only a few barrels, the name Amica is derived from the Latin Amicus which can be described as a gathering of friends, sharing good food and wine around the table. Barrel fermented for complexity this Sauvignon Blanc is a thing of beauty and can most certainly be aged for several years. An outstanding wine.

Signature Brands is operated by the father and son team of Marius Sr. and Marius Jr. Burger. They are integral members of South Africa’s Old Vine Project, an initiative started in 2002 by the iconic Vineyard Manager Rosa Kruger. Under Rosa’s guidance, growers with old vines get paired with winemakers who share their passion of not preserving South Africa’s old vines, but to manage them in such a way that they will consistently produce superior fruit to sustain their future.

The 1983 refers to the age of the vines. Grapes are carefully selected and hand harvested. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine stayed on its lees for three months. A small portion of the wine was then barrel aged for added complexity and richness.

This wine offers fragrant aromas of tropical and stone fruits, leading to rich, layered flavors of white peach, pineapple, and citrus, with a subtle touch of vanilla on the finish. It is pleasantly fresh with a lingering aftertaste, and the complexity and structure from old vineyard fruit promise excellent aging potential in the bottle.
