Champagne Salon 2015 is only the 45th vintage released in over 120 years. It follows a strict "single-three" rule: one single grape (Chardonnay), one single terroir (Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Grand Cru), and one single vintage. It is incredibly rare and has a cult status with a retaining multi-decade aging capacity (1996 vintage received 100pt from James Suckling this year!) The warm, dry 2015 growing season created a remarkably open, fleshy, and accessible style while maintaining a strict mineral backbone. Now produced alongside Champagne Delamotte, the 2015 Salon is exquisite. Bright and focused, captures a gorgeous stylsitic middle ground between the riper and cooler years. The flavor profile leans towards the more citrus, floral and mineral-driven end of the spectrum typical of cooler years, and yet the wine is also wonderfully open-knit and accessible.
