This wee, sleekit, cow’rin, tim’rous beastie is a blended malt of Highland whiskies from Douglas Laing, the latest of their regional recipes to join Scallywag and Big Peat. Perfumed soaps in muslin bags, dried sprigs of heather, beeswax, and Edinburgh rock give this an intriguing bouquet. Juicy: mandarins glow with green plums and Granny Smith apples. Ripe, yellow fruits and spices mid-palate conclude with sweet malt and fading creaminess sweeping around the gums. Distinctive and laudable.

The final cornerstone of Douglas Laing’s Remarkable Regional Malts range, this blended malt celebrates the best from the Islands. The peat smoke finds harmony with the nose of pine, lemon curd, dewy lawns, and vanilla fudge. This is gloriously full-flavored; the peatiness certainly delivers, but there is a pleasant nip of saltiness too. The black pepper finish leads to a long lasting salty smack on the lips. Make this your hipflask essential for bracing excursions along the shoreline.

Nose: Rich and sweet with notes of honey, vanilla, and caramel. Taste: Creamy and smooth with flavors of ripe fruits, toffee, and a hint of oak. Palate: A long and warming finish with a touch of spice and a lingering sweetness.

Triticale is a wheat/rye hybrid, which I guess appealed to the wheat-mad Dry Fly distillers. Aromas of grass, bubble gum, and oak. Taste is young, brashly sweet, but smooth enough to spread easily over the tongue. There’s spice—light cinnamon, a zip of allspice heat—and grassy brightness, but they’re dressing on the juicy sweet center. Not flawed, and well-made, but I wish it had more to say.

Inspired by Dublin’s Victorian heritage, we present this wonderfully gentle yet robust Irish malt. Delicate well-balanced nose, soft spice and fine sweetness with Malt Barley always present, distinct long finish with great sherry notes makes for a smooth and flavoursome Irish whiskey that simply tastes like more.

A solid presence in the range, the strength and malt content continue to mark these out over their contemporaries. Grapefruit peels, sliced juicy orange, and lemon butter icing on the nose. The palate is thinner than others in the range, with crystallized orange, fudge, plus cardamom and mild pepper. The finish of sugared satsumas is boosted by a long lasting trail of spices.

This exquisite 32-year-old Highland single grain whisky, distilled at Invergordon in January 1990 and bottled by Duncan Taylor in August 2022 for their Rare Auld series, offers a luxurious tasting experience. Drawn from single sherry cask number 520009 and bottled at natural strength, it presents enticing aromas of butterscotch toffee, vanilla biscuits, and hints of sherried fruits. On the palate, flavors of vanilla cream biscuits, sugar-glazed red fruits, honey, rich oak, and subtle spices unfold, leading to a sweet and fruity finish with lingering notes of dark chocolate. Complex and indulgent, with only 330 bottles available worldwide.

This Highland single malt from Tullibardine was distilled in 2013 and aged for nine years in a single oak cask. Following this initial maturation period, it spent an additional three months in an octave cask, imparting further complexity to the whisky. Bottled in 2023, only 85 bottles were drawn, marking its inclusion in The Octave series by independent bottlers Duncan Taylor.

Dunville’s Three Crowns Irish Whiskey is a premium vintage blend of superior aged whiskeys finished in three of the finest sherry casks.

Nose: Very gentle, floral, sweet and juicy. Orchard fruits intertwined with nutty caramel, nougat and powerful butterscotch overtones.

Palate: The initial sweetness from the malt gives way to light citrus fruits, oranges, lemon, green apples, pepper and clove. The wood spice and lovely oak tannins firm up this whiskey before the oloroso sherry casks take the final curtain.

Finish: Orchard fruits and caramels give way as subtle notes of walnut, nougat, vanilla and dried fruits come through in the soft lingering finish.

Hiding in a small valley east of the picturesque town of Pitlochry, Edradour is a small operation producing fruity un-peated distillate under the Edradour name, and a meaty and peaty version named Ballechin. This release from Equilibrium (aka Whisky Sponge) is a vatting of a cask of each, both matured in refill ex-sherry casks.

Heavy wood notes come through the glass, such as sawdust and freshly ignited fire wood. The peat dominates the front of the palate and moves to a more briny nature in the mid palate with more wood notes. The finish is more delicate and sweet.

Elvis fans will find a nostalgic treat in this whiskey, featuring a distinct peanut butter note that evokes memories of the King's favorite sandwich. While the banana may be missing, the gentle honey hue sets the stage for a powerful blast of nutty sweetness. As the flavor journey continues, lighter hints of toasted grain and shortbread cookie emerge, followed by a delightful sprinkle of ginger and nutmeg on the finish. Distilled in Indiana and bottled in Tennessee, this whiskey offers a flavorful homage to both regions.

Inchgower distillery is located in the village of Buckie on the Moray Firth coast and is known for producing a full-bodied and robust style of whisky. The distillery uses locally-sourced water from the nearby Burn of Inchgower to produce its whiskies.
In general, single malt whiskies from the Inchgower distillery are known for their rich and complex flavor profile, with notes of dried fruits, honey, and a hint of smoke.

An award-winning Irish Cream, made from triple distilled Irish whiskey and fresh cream from five family-owned farms. Aromas of butterscotch, caramel and vanilla bean, which lead to flavours of coffee, coconut, maple and fresh cream. Palate is sweet and rich with a mouth coating finish. Serve after dinner as dessert.

Nose: Rich cherry aroma with hints of vanilla and oak.
Taste: Smooth and velvety, with notes of ripe cherries, caramel, and dark chocolate.

Each batch is a little bit different, this one leaning to sweet orchard fruits, nutty barley, and hot spicy rye. Butterscotch and vanilla on the nose translate well onto the palate. Brisk peppery spice underlies developing layers, adding another dimension of complexity to an already broad range of flavors. Hints of oak tannins on the finish remind us this was finished in Canadian wood.

This is from refill American hogshead distilled in 1988 and bottled on 16th December 2020 producing 207 bottles.

As you can probably figure out from the name, this is a peated expression, made specifically with heather-rich peat from the highlands. After distillation, the whisky was matured in first-fill ex-sherry casks and allowed a finishing period in virgin oak casks . the experience is a wonderfully floral and welcoming sweet BBQ smoke on the nose with floral undertones throughout. Notes of rich toffee and dark fruits combine on the palate with hints of tobacco leaf and dried apricots before a wonderfully rich and long finish with a hint of spice.
Glasgow 1770 Peated was named ‘Best Lowland Single Malt Whisky in 2020, 2021 and 2022' and is an absolute must for any peated whisky fans.

The Glasgow Distillery Company has gone and distilled its whisky not once, not twice, but thrice! This is its Triple Distilled single malt Scotch whisky, which has been fully matured in virgin oak casks, and it gets bottled up at 46% ABV without any chill-filtration or additional colouring. It's got that traditional triple-distilled lightness to it, but packs plenty of complexity in there too.

North America's first single malt whisky distillery. A single malt from this side of the sea, aged 10 years in oak barrels. The crystal clear water from Maclellan's Brook flows from the Mabou highlands located above Glenora distillery, giving Glen Breton its classic and pure taste. Produced by the traditional copper pot stills methods using only three ingredients: barley, yeast and water.
