Canadian Robert Tome learned his craft of hospitality in Italy, studying with the Italian Sommelier Association. He opened his own import agency, which quickly became one of the largest agencies in Canada representing some iconic Italian wineries. In 2017, Robert decided to challenge himself to do more and give more with a new endeavor. He sold his shares and branched out on his own to launch Tomé Group of Brands, his own wine brand making wines from Washington State and Italy. This vegan-friendly Pinot Grigio is clean and crisp, layered with notes of apple, pear, almond, and white nectarine with a twinkle of acidity. This is a great match with seafood, pasta with cream sauce, oyster, asparagus and summer salads.

This delicious Vinho Verde is a mix of three traditional grape varieties: Alvarinho, Loureiro, Trajadura. At 12.5 percent, it is light on its feet, and with bright acidity, it is vibrant. The fruit is grown on granite giving the wine all the minerality it needs to shine, and the flavours are very VV. It goes through a classic white wine ferment leaving a fruity white reminiscent of fresh tropical fruits and white flowers. Marguet Shaman Blanc NV Zero Dosage is a Champagne made by Benoit Marguet using organic and biodynamic farming practices. It is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, and is aged on lees for at least 18 months. The wine has no added sugar, resulting in a zero dosage Champagne with a bone-dry, crisp taste. It has a delicate aroma with notes of citrus, green apple, and brioche, and a lively, refreshing acidity. This Champagne pairs well with seafood, shellfish, and light appetizers.

Bright yellow hue with slightly green tints and bubbles that are soft, creamy, fine and delicate. The bouquet is precise and mineral with notes of ripe citrus fruit and white, almost vanilla-like blossoms (pollen) and notes of freshly harvested wheat and almonds. The freshness of the bouquet comes through in the form of minty and iodised aromas (sea spray) which slowly evolve towards warmer notes of smoke, hot butter and toast. The palate is creamy and soft yet concentrated on entry. The wine, underpinned by the delicate bubbles, unfolds majestically. Oaky and smoky notes continue to draw out the wine, giving it extra length and concentration, an indication of its exceptional cellar-ageing potential. Antonio Fattori's passion for winemaking traces back to his family's legacy, with roots planted in the early 1900s by his grandfather, who returned from WWI to restore vineyards devastated by phylloxera. Today, the Fattori family continues this tradition, crafting expressive and intriguing wines in Veneto. Their white wines, grown on basalt slopes in the alpine valley, showcase a distinct minerality. Their Soave, made from the Garganega grape, is a dry white wine renowned for its vibrant citrus and honeydew melon notes, accented by a subtle hint of macadamia nut. Easy-drinking and delightful, it captures the essence of the region.

One of the original producers that grows Trebbiano Abruzzese, one of the few quality grapes of the Trebbiano group. There is not much of this exported and even fewer bottles of the Montepulciano. Francesco Valentini and his son are the only humans allowed in the cellar as Francesco never wants to introduce foreign microbes or yeasts to interfere with the ageing of the wine. These are some of the most ageable white wines in the world and in fact, could be considered “unicorns” as they are hard to find here in Canada.  Truly collectible.

Similar to the Verdelho grape, the Khakibos, known botanically as Tagetes Minuta, is a recent addition to the foothills of Stellenbosch. While neither are indigenous to the region, both have been successfully cultivated over the past twenty-five years, thriving in the distinctive climate of the Cape. Interestingly, Khakibos is also utilized as a natural repellent against insects and mosquitoes. This marks the fourth vintage of this exceptional wine, which has evolved to embody the vision of Stephanie and Etienne—a blend of Iberian white varieties, featuring drought-resistant Portuguese grapes.

Penfolds Koonunga Hill Chardonnay is a medium-bodied, full-bodied, and creamy white wine with flavors of stone and tropical fruits, citrus, and notes of vanilla and spice from oak. It features a balanced and pleasant acidity with a long, pure finish, and food pairings include roast chicken, grilled seafood, and creamy pasta dishes.

The Distillers Edition is vintage-dated and finished in sherry casks, offering aromas and flavors of sweet malt, cooked fruit, dried flowers, and light smoke, complemented by herbal and creamy/buttery nuances. John Dewar & Sons Ltd has unveiled a 12-year-old expression from its Macduff distillery, previously recognized as Glen Deveron but now rebranded as the Deveron. This offering presents a delicate and inviting aroma, characterized by soft sweetness and fruity nuances. Notes of vanilla, ginger, ripe peaches, and apple blossom tantalize the senses. On the palate, it offers a medium-bodied texture with a gentle spiciness, featuring butterscotch and Brazil nuts, followed by a subtle hint of licorice.
