Tignanello was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first contemporary red wine blended with untraditional varieties (specifically Cabernet) and one of the first red wines in the Chianti Classico region that didn’t use white grapes. Rara Neagra is a Romanian-Moldovan red grape variety that is cultivated in both regions. A great alternative to Merlot, this wine is smooth with a complex aroma of pomegranate, plum and chocolate. The full, velvety taste, with hints of dried fruit and vanilla smoothly pass into an oaky finish.

Moldovan wine doesn't have the same recognition as some of its other neighbours that make wine in Europe, but vines have been growing here for thousands of years, as far back as 3000BC. Saperavi is a versatile grape, vinified both sweet and dry. There s a well balanced flavour here with a mix of oak, sour cherry and black current that has sweetness, but balanced by high acidity.

A much-loved single malt, Cardhu is an easy-going, charming Speysider. With clean, crisp oak and sweet malt evoking flavours of honeyed flapjacks and home-made caramel squares, this is one for the sweet-toothed among you.

Nose: At full strength, heady, nose prickle, pear drops and tightly integrated heather, resin and sweet honey-nut notes. Enticing. Intriguing. With a little water, still harmonious but less pronounced, allowing some malt-cereal, soft, spicy wood, moorland and faint traces of wood smoke to appear.

Body: Soft, pleasing, medium.

Palate: Palate Well balanced, smooth mouthfeel; short punch, sweet and fresh, then a pronounced drying effect. Enjoyable at any time, with little or no water.

Finish: Quite short. Some lingering sweet smoke in the attractive, drying aftertaste.

Pale straw in colour with a fine mousse; defined aromas of roasted nuts, rye bread toast and grapefruit; the palate is extra-dry with just-shy-of-medium body and lovely replay of flavours from the nose with a mineral note on a clean finish.
