Introduced in 2008, the Crystal Head Vodka, is meticulously crafted from Canadian corn sourced locally. After undergoing four rounds of distillation, it transforms into a neutral grain spirit, harmoniously blended with pure water from Newfoundland, Canada. This exceptional vodka undergoes a rigorous filtration process, passing through seven stages, including three filtrations through layers of semi-precious Herkimer diamonds, known for their exceptional clarity and purity.

Nose: Intense aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and cherry, with hints of cedar, tobacco, and vanilla.

Taste: Rich and full-bodied, with flavors of ripe dark fruits, such as blackberry and plum, complemented by notes of spice, licorice, and dark chocolate.

Palate: Well-structured with velvety tannins, offering a smooth and elegant mouthfeel. The finish is long and lingering, leaving a pleasant aftertaste of black fruits and subtle oak.

The warehouses at Glenora are not heated, so aging virtually stops in winter. Thus, the whisky doesn’t reach its peak until its mid-teens. By then, it is malty, fresh, crisp, and grassy, with hints of vanilla and delicate, slightly bitter fruits, including apricots and citrus pith. Fragile floral notes join exotic hints of mango and a nuttiness reminiscent of almond skins and sweetened coconut. Air do dheag slàinte, Glenora , as they say in Cape Breton’s Gaelic Highlands. Slow-roasted corn, marzipan, cinnamon, nutmeg, and kettle corn start this experience and slowly fade to corn on the cob with butter, salt, and pepper. Then, it’s apple cider vinegar, deep-fried mushrooms, and Nutella. Fried pie dough and hints of chocolate appear before a medium finish that has a hint of toffee.

Nose: Rich and aromatic with notes of dried fruits, caramel, and vanilla.

Taste: Smooth and full-bodied, with flavors of toffee, dark chocolate, and oak.

Palate: Complex and well-balanced, with hints of spice, raisins, and a lingering sweetness.

A new, no age statement addition to the Laphroaig family that blends together Quarter Cask, PX, Triple Wood, and 10 year old. The nose is reminiscent of freshly-treated decking, before some classic iodine creeps in. Water brings out geranium, pollen, and damp leather. The palate is simple, clean, and mild (and smoky), with bay leaf, light dried fruit, and that oily wood. Undoubtedly there's a lot going on, but it’s not married, and 40% means it lacks the necessary wallop.

Nose: Fresh agave, citrus zest, and hints of green pepper.
Taste: Crisp and vibrant with notes of agave, lime, and a touch of black pepper.
Palate: Smooth and well-balanced, with a clean finish of agave and a subtle hint of white pepper.

Nose indefinitely complex, leading to fine venerable dried fruit flavours. With deft balance and a peacocks tail of a finish.

A very primary, bright crimson colour, this has more lift and florals than the 2016 Midnight Race. The palate has a cooler character, a line of fine liquorice and raspberry fruit, a herbal touch, but the tannins are so fine, elegant, and the balance excellent.

Lucky Cat Pink Limited Edition Sake (16% ABV, 720mL) is a premium, small-batch Japanese sake from the Doi brewery in Shizuoka, made with Homarefuji rice polished to 55%. It is described as a light-bodied, medium-dry rosé-style sake featuring delicate notes of wildflower, green banana, macadamia nut, and bright, juicy acidity.

Niwa No Uguisu 50 Junmai Daiginjo is a refined, light, and modern Japanese sake from Fukuoka with a 50% rice polish rate. It offers a fragrant, fruity, and juicy profile featuring notes of apple, melon, and pear with a delicate, clean, and slightly sweet finish. This smooth, easy-drinking, and versatile sake pairs well with light dishes like sashimi.

Talisker Distillers Edition is a 45.8% ABV Isle of Skye single malt, double-matured in Amoroso-seasoned American oak casks for enhanced richness. It blends signature maritime peat, smoke, and black pepper with deep, sweet sherry notes, including dried fruits, vanilla, and cocoa, offering a more complex, rounded, and sweeter profile than the standard 10-year.

The 2001 Léoville Las Cases is a vintage I’ve encountered many times. Now at two decades old, it has a generous nose with those black plums still in situ, along with graphite and cedar; this bottle is a little more backward, probably due to the provenance. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, white pepper and sage and fine grip. Though it’s not as precise or chiseled as recent vintages, there is admirable complexity on the lightly peppered, tobacco- and rooibos-tinged finish. Excellent. 2021 - 2050

Bacardi Spiced Rum, bottled at 35% ABV, is a bold yet smooth blend of aged and unaged rum rested in charred American oak barrels. This amber-hued, gluten-free spirit is designed for mixing, particularly with cola or ginger beer.

Light and fun, this pineapple wine is sweet, yet finishes with nice acidity and fruity freshness. Bursting with tropical flavors, this wine is fruit-forward and fun. A splash of Hawaii in every glass.

Mike Grgich first gained international recognition at the celebrated Paris Tasting of 1976. This historic tasting gave the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, crafted by Mike Grgich, first place as the finest white wine in the world. After this solid recognition, he started Grgich Hills winery in Rutherford Hills. 2023 marks the 100th birthday of this iconic producer who is a legend in Napa Valley. This Cabernet offers black currant and ripe black cherries, followed by forest floor and bay leaf and vanilla undertones. Bright acidity, and youthful tannins are evident; no doubt this wine has the ability to age.

With 170ha of vineyards in the Collio region of Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Jermann has four generations of winemaking under its belt with Silvio Jermann the current visionary and winemaker. This wine made from 100% Pinot Nero, is elegant with notes of sweet red fruit and slight herbaceousness, and perhaps more full bodied that its French counterpart. Pinot Nero from Italy is a thing of beauty!

Rich blackberry and plum on the nose with notes of aniseed. Full-bodied with dark bramble fruit and well-coated tannins on the palate. The long finish reveals layers of black licorice and dried sage. MB (4/22)

At its core Mirabeau Gin is a classic Dry Gin. Mirabeau has used a 100% grape-based neutral spirit which adds roundness and subtle fruitiness to the palate. Lemons and Coriander add layers of fresh citrus character. Orris and Angelica roots impart floral and earthy tones respectively. Rose Petals, Lavender and Jasmine are used sparingly to bring a variety of floral tones. Finally, Bay, Thyme and Rosemary add a finely balanced herbaceous character to the blend.

The various components bring a softness to a classic core, making this gin round enough to be sipped alone. Mirabeau suggests adding a dry vermouth for the perfect Martini or topping with your favourite tonic.
