Known for taking the road less travelled, we decided an exceptional offering that displays the undeniable brut of Lodi Syrah was just the ticket. Freakshow Red is a mash-up of man meets wild...Syrah’s untamed and mysterious allure is refined and polished with the addition of Petite Sirah. TASTING NOTES
The man, the myth, the untamed and refined – our Freakshow Red Wine unveils the wild, unruly blend staring our very own man meets beast. Composed of Syrah, Petite Sirah and Souzao, the 2021 act reveals aromas of juicy raspberry, black cherry, butterscotch and toasted baguette. Full-bodied with polished, velvety tannins, flavours of dried plum, crème brulee and toasted oak are carried through a long finish that will have you reaching for more.

Powerful and rich-tasting, this wine from Joseph Wagner is velvety in texture and spicy in aroma. It drips with jammy, Port-like flavors that are backed by fine-grained tannins that tighten a bit on the finish for a good grip.

The nose is fruity and offers a fine grain and a fine power. It reveals notes of blackberry, ripe cassis and small notes of crushed red fruits as well as fine hints of violet and a discreet hint of cardamom and an imperceptible hint of grey pepper. The mouth is fruity, well-balanced and offers a good juiciness, an acidulous frame as well as a fine tension. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of fleshy cassis, fleshy cassis and small notes of wild raspberry associated with fine touches of violet, liquorice stick and a subtle hint of caramelization. Tannins are well-built and racy.

Caymus-Suisun The Walking Fool is a smooth, full-bodied red blend, primarily Zinfandel and Petite Sirah from California's Suisun Valley, known for juicy red fruit (raspberry), espresso notes, earthy spice, and vanilla, with soft tannins and a balanced, lingering finish, perfect for rich foods like BBQ, charcuterie, or pizza. It's named after a Wagner family ancestor who walked miles daily, reflecting its character as a spirited yet grounded wine.

Nose of jammy blueberry, red cherry and pepper. Lively acidity and structure give this wine a full mouthfeel with notes of raspberry, mineral and dark chocolate with a lingering finish. SR (11/22)

Mike Grgich first gained international recognition at the celebrated Paris Tasting of 1976. This historic tasting gave the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, crafted by Mike Grgich, first place as the finest white wine in the world. After this solid recognition, he started Grgich Hills winery in Rutherford Hills. 2023 marks the 100th birthday of this iconic producer who is a legend in Napa Valley. This Cabernet offers black currant and ripe black cherries, followed by forest floor and bay leaf and vanilla undertones. Bright acidity, and youthful tannins are evident; no doubt this wine has the ability to age.

Rich blackberry and plum on the nose with notes of aniseed. Full-bodied with dark bramble fruit and well-coated tannins on the palate. The long finish reveals layers of black licorice and dried sage. MB (4/22)

Head winemaker Rob Griffin arrived in the Columbia Valley four decades ago via UC Davis and the Napa Valley and is the longest-practicing winemaker in Washington State. This wine spent 17 months in oak barriques and shows the rewards of both skill and patience. Expect ripe, juicy cherry and plum fruit with subtle smoky shading, and pair with grilled meats.

Decoy Limited Cabernet Sauvignon is a premium, fuller-bodied red wine from the acclaimed Duckhorn Portfolio. It highlights robust dark fruit flavors—like blackberry and black cherry—complemented by hints of dark chocolate, violet, and toasted French oak.

Duckhorn Three Palms Merlot is an iconic, full-bodied Napa Valley wine known for its elegance, complexity, and age-worthiness, blending rich dark fruit (plum, black cherry, fig, boysenberry) with floral notes (rose petals), spice (cinnamon, cocoa), and earthy minerality, all supported by silky tannins and French oak aging, creating a benchmark for New World Merlot.

Belle Glos Clark & Telephone Pinot Noir offers a tasting experience of deep ruby red with aromas of ripe cherry, nutmeg, and dark chocolate. On the palate, bold flavors of black plum, crushed raspberry, and blueberry pie are layered. The wine has a rich, lively texture and a warm, structured finish.

This intense, inky, extra-ripe wine takes concentration to the next level. It is saturated with dried plum, black raisin and blackberry jam flavors on a tannic but still smooth texture, and drinks almost like a Port.

Carter Vineyard is located in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA on volcanic mother rock. Fruit focused. Darker blue and black fruits of cassis, blackberry and dried blueberry supported by firm acidity and moderate tannins.

Waxy plum, bark and sage ride along a throughput of thick tannin and integrated oak in this well-made, full-bodied wine. Varietally earthy and herbal, it offers good value for a high-quality experience of length and breadth.

The Evesham Wood Sojeau Vineyard Pinot Noir (Eola-Amity Hills) is a structured, cool-climate wine known for its high energy and bright acidity. Exhibit aromas of raspberry, pine, and candied violets, with flavors of tart black berries, dark plum, clove, and citrus zest, often featuring a long, savoury, and mineral-driven finish. 

Barnard Griffin Winery began in 1983 with borrowed grapes and a rented cellar, the dream of founders Deborah Barnard and Rob Griffin. It has since become one of Washington's most enduring and award-winning wineries. Along with their tasting room, they also have a tasting room in Woodinville, where one can taste many examples of Washington wine. The Cabernet delivers a cascade of opulent plum, cherry and raspberry fruit flavors framed with subtle notes of bittersweet chocolate and oak spice. A very rich, fruity, food-friendly Cab!

The Caymus-Suisun Grand Durif is a bold, full-bodied red wine from California's Suisun Valley (Petite Sirah/Durif grape) known for its inky color and opulent flavors of ripe blueberry, plum, dark cherry, and chocolate, complemented by spicy notes of pepper, violet, and oak, offering a rich, smooth texture with firm yet velvety tannins, making it a powerful pairing for grilled meats and hearty dishes.

Red blends of this type rarely shine as brightly. This ultra concentrated and smooth-textured blend including Merlot, Petite Sirah and Malbec is inky dark in color, luxurious aromatic of blueberries, blackcurrants and mint followed by oak spices and dark chocolate on the palate. Creamy in texture, it is laden in massive but melted tannins.

This Pinot from Oregon stands as a testament to the state's ability to produce wines that can indeed rival those from Burgundy. This realization is further solidified upon tasting this particular wine, which is currently in its optimal drinking window and will remain so for the next few years. It opens up slowly, revealing a salty zest of dark cherry and the wild garrigue—a type of herby scrub found in Burgundy. This wine is a gastronomic delight, becoming one of my favorites when paired with a seared steak accompanied by a red wine pan jus.

Provenance Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a, full-bodied, and, velvety Napa Valley red, primarily sourcing from Rutherford and other top AVAs. It features rich,, dark fruit flavors of blackcurrant, plum, and, blackberry, complemented by cocoa and, fine, integrated tannins. The wine is, aged for 18 months in French oak, offering a long, structured finish. 

"Lush fruits of black cherry, blackberry and red plum. Rich notes of freshly turned earth, magnolia flower and sweet touches of white chocolate. Young round silky tannins provide a long finish. These soil series were born from the volcanic eruptions of the Blue Mountains 15 million years ago, which created basalt islands that still sit on the top of Northern Willamette Valley hills.
