The nose is fruity and offers a fine grain and a fine power. It reveals notes of blackberry, ripe cassis and small notes of crushed red fruits as well as fine hints of violet and a discreet hint of cardamom and an imperceptible hint of grey pepper. The mouth is fruity, well-balanced and offers a good juiciness, an acidulous frame as well as a fine tension. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of fleshy cassis, fleshy cassis and small notes of wild raspberry associated with fine touches of violet, liquorice stick and a subtle hint of caramelization. Tannins are well-built and racy.

Powerful and rich-tasting, this wine from Joseph Wagner is velvety in texture and spicy in aroma. It drips with jammy, Port-like flavors that are backed by fine-grained tannins that tighten a bit on the finish for a good grip.

Mike Grgich first gained international recognition at the celebrated Paris Tasting of 1976. This historic tasting gave the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, crafted by Mike Grgich, first place as the finest white wine in the world. After this solid recognition, he started Grgich Hills winery in Rutherford Hills. 2023 marks the 100th birthday of this iconic producer who is a legend in Napa Valley. This Cabernet offers black currant and ripe black cherries, followed by forest floor and bay leaf and vanilla undertones. Bright acidity, and youthful tannins are evident; no doubt this wine has the ability to age.

Rich blackberry and plum on the nose with notes of aniseed. Full-bodied with dark bramble fruit and well-coated tannins on the palate. The long finish reveals layers of black licorice and dried sage. MB (4/22)

This intense, inky, extra-ripe wine takes concentration to the next level. It is saturated with dried plum, black raisin and blackberry jam flavors on a tannic but still smooth texture, and drinks almost like a Port.

Carter Vineyard is located in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA on volcanic mother rock. Fruit focused. Darker blue and black fruits of cassis, blackberry and dried blueberry supported by firm acidity and moderate tannins.

This wine spent 17 months in oak barriques and shows the rewards of both skill and patience. Expect ripe, juicy cherry and plum fruit with subtle smoky shading, and pair with grilled meats.

It's named after a Wagner family ancestor who walked miles daily, reflecting its character as a spirited yet grounded wine.

Waxy plum, bark and sage ride along a throughput of thick tannin and integrated oak in this well-made, full-bodied wine. Varietally earthy and herbal, it offers good value for a high-quality experience of length and breadth.

The Evesham Wood Sojeau Vineyard Pinot Noir (Eola-Amity Hills) is a structured, cool-climate wine known for its high energy and bright acidity. Red blends of this type rarely shine as brightly. This ultra concentrated and smooth-textured blend including Merlot, Petite Sirah and Malbec is inky dark in color, luxurious aromatic of blueberries, blackcurrants and mint followed by oak spices and dark chocolate on the palate. Creamy in texture, it is laden in massive but melted tannins.

This Pinot from Oregon stands as a testament to the state's ability to produce wines that can indeed rival those from Burgundy. This realization is further solidified upon tasting this particular wine, which is currently in its optimal drinking window and will remain so for the next few years. It opens up slowly, revealing a salty zest of dark cherry and the wild garrigue—a type of herby scrub found in Burgundy. This wine is a gastronomic delight, becoming one of my favorites when paired with a seared steak accompanied by a red wine pan jus.

Provenance Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a, full-bodied, and, velvety Napa Valley red, primarily sourcing from Rutherford and other top AVAs. It features rich,, dark fruit flavors of blackcurrant, plum, and, blackberry, complemented by cocoa and, fine, integrated tannins. The wine is, aged for 18 months in French oak, offering a long, structured finish.
