Although the Upper Valdarno in Tuscany, where the winery is located is steeped in history, the young owners of Meca and Rocco are a brother and sister team with a combined age of just over 40 years old. Originally from Calabria where they learned the land, agriculture inthe toe of Italy's boot is difficult, so the family decide to pursue opportunities in Tuscany. They produce olive oil and and vegetables along with wine, all farmed organically. The Vertigine is made with 100% Canaiolo, typically a blending grape for Chianti and Chianti Classico wines. This comes from their youngest vineyard, hand picke and hand selected for a finished wine that is juicy, fresh, with lots of pretty red fruit of cherry and raspberry. A unique and lovely wine.

In the commune of La Morra, Sergio Molino vinifies wine from only 2.5 ha of Nebbiolo vines. The Molino family vineyards, bottled under the Ernesto Molino label is an homage to Sergio's father. Like many micro-wineries, it's a "hands-off" approach, allowing the terroir to speak for itself. Cranberry, violet, hints of vanilla and even an iron note, put this one away for a while to let those austere tannins settle down. Best after 2027.

Earthquake Cabernet Sauvignon by Michael David Winery is a bold, full-bodied California red known for intense dark fruit (blackberry, plum, cherry), mocha, vanilla, and spicy notes (cinnamon, clove, espresso) from rich oak aging, offering a powerful palate with velvety tannins and a long, complex finish, pairing well with grilled meats, stews, and hearty dishes.

The 2020 Echo de Lynch-Bages is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, aging for around 12 months in one year-old French oak barriques. It has an alcohol of 13.03%, a pH of 3.78 and an IPT (tannin index) of 80. Deep garnet-purple in colour, it rolls out of the glass with expressive, upfront notes of baked black and red cherries, plum preserves and blackcurrant cordial, followed by hints of new leather, tobacco leaf and a medicinal waft. The medium-bodied palate is chock-full of savoury flavours, with a chewy texture and just enough freshness, finishing a little rustic.

Ed Knows Merlot is a dry, red wine from Moldova with aromas of red fruits, cherries, and plums, with a smooth, balanced character. It is a medium-bodied, approachable wine that is good for both drinking on its own and pairing with food.

Edda (‘she’ in Salento dialect) is the feminine and sensual soul of San Marzano. It is a complex white wine, full of Mediterranean notes. The Chardonnay grapes give the wine finesse and longevity, together with different varieties indigenous to Puglia, that year after year compete to complement the blend.

It is distinguished by its triple-distillation in copper alembics, utilizing only the central "göbek" (heart) of the distillate for exceptional purity and a velvety texture.

Efe Oak Barrel (often referencing the prestigious Efe 5-Year-Old Rakı) is a premium Turkish anise spirit. It is crafted from 100% grape-based alcohol, distilled twice in copper alembics with Anatolian aniseeds, and aged for 5 years in oak barrels, resulting in a complex, smooth flavor.

Heralded as the gem of Guyana's sugar cane-rich Demerara region, the El Dorado distillery crafted this limited-edition rum to celebrate the turn of the millennium. A quarter-century aging in the tropics imbues it with a character of bitter chocolate, smoke, and spice. The decanter-shaped bottle enhances its allure.

The El Dorado High Ester Blend (LBI/DHE) is an 11-year-old Guyana rum (distilled 2012) combining two distinct, intense marques: La Bonne Intention (French Savalle still) and Diamond High Ester (John Dore pot still). El Dorado Single Still Enmore is a 12-year-old Guyanese Demerara rum produced from the historic 1880 wooden Coffey still (EHP mark), the last of its kind. It is known for a rich, complex profile featuring aromas of butterscotch, coconut, and apple, with a smoky cedar, dried fruit, and toasted nut finish.

El Tequileno Platinum Blanco is a premium tequila made from 100% blue agave grown in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. It is a clear, unaged tequila that is double-distilled to create a smooth and clean taste. The aroma is fresh and fruity with notes of citrus and agave, while the taste is crisp and refreshing with a hint of sweetness. This tequila is perfect for sipping neat or as the base for a delicious cocktail. It is a versatile and high-quality tequila that is sure to impress even the most discerning tequila connoisseur.

A pale gold, light-bodied spirit with a brisk feel and hearty alcohol sting. The scent landed somewhere between smoky and menthol, bringing to mind menthol cigarettes. But the flavor was warm and honey-like.

Take Ancestor Vines (planted in 1894), a great vintage, experienced winemaking. Add 30 months of aging in American and French oak, resulting in the stunning 2018 Command Single Vineyard Shiraz. Boasting fabulous density and concentration, this full-bodied effort is still almost embryonic in its development, with tarry, mocha, yet lifted notes accenting intense blackberry fruit; a rich, supple yet structured mouthfeel, and a long, mouthwatering finish. Once it hits its stride in a few years, it should drink well for 20 years or more.

Established in 1869, this family-operated winery stands as one of the most venerable estates in Alto Adige. Now run by Elena Walch and her two daughters, their name is synonymous with quality. Made from 100% Lagrein, a grape indigenous to the area, is one of the most tannic grapes in all of Italy. The wines produced from this grape are characterized by their freshness and elegance, offering notes of berry, spice, and cocoa, complemented by firm tannins. Try with meat heavier meats, such as wild game, bison and beef steak.

This wine is made exclusively from 100% Pinot Blanc grapes - a mutation of pinot noir, yet grown on steep slopes in the mountainous region of Alto-Adige with a cool, high altitude climate resulting in wines with zingy, fresh, high acidity.  The nose exhibits yellow apple, fresh Italian herbs with nuances of citrus. Initially linear in style, the ageing on the lees adds texture and complexity.  Pinot Blanc is always a great alternative to those looking for a change of pace to pinot grigio.

A perfect summer red, this refreshing, light-bodied wine from Alto-Adige in northern Italy, is made with the indegenous Schiava (group of) grapes. Three grapes in this group, often co-planted can sometimes also be known as Vernatsch. The wine is packed full of bright red cherry, strawberry and sweet almond sensations.
