Tasting Notes

Nose: cereal barley malt, some caramelised sugar and light treacle, hints of vanilla custard and crème brulee, fruity apples and pears, toffee and caramel

Palate: light and smooth initially, creamy caramelised sugar, caramel, fudge, toffee, vanilla, some spices begin to develop, a light wasabi heat and a little fennel give this a spiced kick

Finish: medium, balanced between creamy vanilla toffee and drying spiced oak and hints of peat

This unique release of 5 year old single grain has been brought to maturation in ex bourbon barrels & finally finished in ex sherry casks. This single grain whiskey gives you smoothness beyond its 5 years.

More delicate then an irish pot still, it is packed with flavour. The sherry cask finish imparts notes of dried fruits & spice with a touch of citrus.

Bottled in small batches, the bottling strength will vary according to how the characteristics of each batch are portrayed. To be enjoyed over ice or in a classic cocktail, such as an old fashioned.

Aromas of roasted grain and a hint of orchard fruit lead into an earthy, malty palate tinged with chamomile tea, oak and cinnamon, winding into a mild almond finish. Macaloney's Cath-Nah-Aven is a single malt spirit from Vancouver Island that honors traditional sherry-style whiskies. It has a complex nose with notes of red berries, plums, and oak, and a huge, creamy body on the palate with flavors of plums, raisins, spices, and a hint of sea salt. Aged in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks as well as American oak casks, it has a long, complex finish.

Appearance: Clear, deep golden. Aroma: Fruity Christmas cake with sherry, nuts, and almondy marzipan. Taste: Fruity and spicy Christmas cake with hints of Christmas pudding, sherry, cinnamon, and star anise. Aftertaste: Very long, featuring spicy dried fruit and bitter chocolate.

The fourth release in Glenfiddich’s Experimental Series, this expression comprises peated and unpeated single malt, matured in bourbon barrels and then finished for 3 months in Latin American rum casks. A nose of spiced rum, vanilla, ripe pears, and pipe tobacco. Baked apple, sweet oak, and cinder toffee on the palate, with ashy smoke. It’s a brave person who tries to persuade a malt like Lagavulin to go into a different direction. Indeed, even PX casks, from the sweetest fortified wine of all, can’t fully obscure the distillery’s character, just give it a raisined coating. The creosote turns to tar and licorice, while there’s Syrah-like sootiness, and damson. This release is slightly less sweet than in the past and is the better for it, though I still prefer my Lagavulin relatively ‘naked.’

This expression replaces the previous 17 year old, and has been aged in bourbon and second-fill American oak casks, followed by a period in first-fill Spanish oak oloroso butts. Sherry is immediately obvious on the nose, with fresh-baked fruitcake aromas, honey, and allspice. The palate is sweet and spicy, with Jaffa orange segments dipped in sea salt, toffee, and dark chocolate. Orange and oak in the medium-length finish.

Highly aromatic, with allspice, ground cinnamon, and hints of clove. Behind the spice, there is soft vanilla toffee, creamed coconut, and grapefruit peel. A palate comprised of citrus, peel oils, toffee, red berries, sweet barley, cinnamon, pepper, and star anise transition to a greater emphasis on toffee, hints of chocolate, more maltiness, and a little oak. Clyde May’s Alabama Style Whiskey from Conecuh Ridge Distillery bears the name of the man responsible for the brand, Clyde May. Clyde crafted his first spirits in 1946, but it wasn’t until 2001 that the distilling operation was made legal. The company built its name around this popular “Alabama Style Whiskey”, which according to their website is finished with a hint of apple and is the Official State Spirit of Alabama. Clyde May’s Alabama Style Whiskey is bottled at 85 proof. The mashbill is 55% corn, 30% rye, and 15% barley. The whiskey is aged 6 to 7 years in oak barrels and is finished with a hint of apple.

Straight Edge is a blend of 5, 7 and 8-year-old Bourbon from Kentucky and Tennessee. The Bourbon was finished in the Napa Valley where it was aged in seasoned wine barrels. The barrels imparted toasty vanilla and dried fruit notes while also allowing the Bourbon to soften and mellow.
Aromatically intriguing with brown sugar, maple, caramelized oak, exotic spices, orange peel and campfire. The palate is velvety smooth, rich and packed with flavors of brown spice, honey and intense caramel. The complexity is apparent and the finish is persistent, long lasting and focused.

Whistlepig Farmstock Rye is a tribute to their "grain-to-glass" process, using their own farm's grain, water, and local Vermont oak barrels. Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is a classic Tennessee whiskey known for its iconic black and white label, square bottle, and smooth taste derived from charcoal mellowing.
